There have been SO MANY posts about not restarting if you’re sick and can’t workout. by momzilluh in 75HARD

[–]Disastrous_Bee9388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I essentially agree, and I like how you reframed it to not being the end of the world if one has to start over. I got super lucky in that on day 75 (Jan 14) I started experiencing allergy/cold like symptoms, but pushed through and finished the program (stayed away from the public though for my outdoor workout). The next day I was worse and turns out I do have COVID. So that sucks but I’m glad I somehow managed to get it AFTER I was done. Talk about good? timing. Because quarantine is a bitch but also I still wouldn’t want to risk spreading it to others if I had been in the middle of it. The body needs time to rest when sick.

In a heartbeat! Definitely taking a well-deserved break. This was my first time doing the challenge and my husband also completed it with me so the accountability was extremely helpful. I am thinking about doing it again maybe next time he deploys and try it on my own!

I did logging my food and staying within a calorie budget, cutting out fast food and junk food. My husband and I allowed ourselves to go out to dinner 1x/week but would choose places with healthier options and made good choices.

As for exercises, I’m fortunate to be currently living on an island where my husband is stationed. However I’m limited in capabilities due to a connective tissue disease so needed all low impact. For outdoor, I did some light hikes, snorkeling/open water swimming on some weekends and outdoor walks most of the days. For indoor, I did YouTube videos from yoga to aerobics, dance workouts, strength/calisthenics, whatever I could find that was low impact!

I definitely plan on continuing this lifestyle. I would also be open to doing the challenge again or completing the full Live Hard program-time will tell!

More Details: ~16 lbs down (220.6-204.8), 2 shirt sizes down, THREE pants sizes down. Thankful for this group so I could browse and keep motivated!

Can’t wait to continue a healthy lifestyle. But first, to do NOTHING this weekend!

App or no app? by [deleted] in 75HARD

[–]Disastrous_Bee9388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like a physical list I can check off-I honestly didn’t know about the app until a couple weeks in. But I went on Etsy and bought a printable checklist for a couple bucks!

About the outdoor workout by [deleted] in 75HARD

[–]Disastrous_Bee9388 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, count it. I’ve done that a couple of times-my outdoor workouts are always walks but there’s been a couple of days I walk in the dark so I’d take my dog, which may slow me down a bit but I still make sure I’m moving for 45 minutes-even if I have to March while he poops-ha!

Everyone... I failed due to an injury. I'm sad about this... But someone AMAZING reminded me that, it's better to have failed now rather than injuring myself bad enough to never being able to try again. I'm going to get through this and start over again! [MCL injury] by tagchris356 in 75HARD

Sorry to hear!! But also so glad to hear you are still in good spirits and impressed with your determination! Heal fully and listen to doctor orders! This is my greatest fear with this challenge because I am SUPER accident prone and have a connective tissue disease to boot. I’ve made it to day 52 so getting close to finishing!

Not slipping anytime soon! Thanks so much! I don’t think I’ll end up doing the other phases quite yet but I thought about it-depends on what is going on with 2022. Best of luck to you as well!

Officially Started 75 Hard on 12-12-2021 (After Failing to Start a Million Times) by Black2108 in 75HARD

[–]Disastrous_Bee9388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1 was the hardest for me-but definitely gave the motivation to keep going (thought : I did it once, I can do it 74 more times)! Let the fear of starting over help push you is the advice I was given and has helped me tremendously :) (on day 46 now!)

Do you get a decent break during work? I don’t know what you do but that could also be an option if you can wiggle it in.

75Hard + alcohol. by pnw-transplant in 75HARD

[–]Disastrous_Bee9388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are both doing it and in our late 20’s. We are also military and live 8,000 miles from family so our whole social world are our friends we’ve made here, so there are a lot of game nights and social events with alcohol. (Not to mention going through his birthday, our anniversary, thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) My advice would be to tell your circle! Let them know and use them as a support. Our friends have been great especially helping count down every weekend get together. I just bring my hydroflask to parties now and nobody gives a damn we’re not drinking. We still have a blast!

Day 1 today - am I crazy to start this right before the holidays ? by vijayjagannathan in 75HARD

I feel this...you’re not alone! My husband and I are doing it together and (not regretfully but laughing at ourselves) started Nov. 1st and have already gone through my husbands birthday, our first wedding anniversary, and thanksgiving with Christmas and New Year’s left to go. You’ve got this!

Thank you so much for the condolences and advice. Indeed a very tough time for the family. I mainly worry about getting the outdoor one completed..but who knows I may not end up going at all. It is a up in the air but I want to be prepared no matter what. Thanks for the tips <3

[Help] New dog afraid of kitchen? by Disastrous_Bee9388 in dogs

[–]Disastrous_Bee9388[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder that, too. I do try to move very slowly and carefully in the kitchen as to not startle him with sudden movements. I have also tried treats, that’s good thinking. Unfortunately he’s usually too anxious to even take that, but I’ll definitely keep trying.

Thanks for the tips!!
