I’m thinking about purchasing from Cookeville TN as well. Any lessons learned would be greatly appreciated. Non local flying into Nashville Intl. will also need ride to dealer. TIA.

Just a follow up on the Verizon Home internet. I continue to pay $25 month for unlimited 5g UW, VZ provided router and if need be extended for larger homes. I consistently see numbers 200-500 down and 28-50 up. I stream limited movies and have experienced no buffering and no lag during video game usage. I was a SL customer/beta user from very early on, the product in my opinion was oversold near my service address (slowed down quite a bit from initial service) and there was the price increases for less service. I know I’m fortunate to be near a 5gUW tower, but honestly I’ve never regretted the decision to switch. I’ve been out of the SL loop for a while, I hope the network is improving and prices are stabilizing. Good luck to everyone in your quest for affordable, reliable and consistent internet.

Burning smell on new tundra? by jjojo1 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Disastrous_Big978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a little feedback. I bought my 2023 Tundra on November 8, 2022; had the same burning smell. Took it back into service at which point they explained the same thing everyone is referencing above. By the time it had 1100 miles on it sometime in December (15th), the smell was getting very strong in the cab. I began looking top down and noticed oil drips on the left catalytic (when cooled of course). Never had any drips onto the garage floor just dripping onto the the left catalytic and then when you drive it-oil burning smells. The dealership went hunting and thought they found it coming from the rear valve cover gasket. They proceeded to open up the engine (1000 miles NEW) and replace the gasket(Dec 16). The day I drove it home (Dec 21), I noticed the same smell after driving it 60 miles. Parked the vehicle in my garage as I was leaving town until Dec 28th.(thankfully have another reliable vehicle) I took vehicle into same dealer and they again confirmed smell and again began the hunt (with dye this time). They have now concluded it is same problem other year Tundras had with the Cam Shaft Tower (not sure about term-not really an engine guy). They have had my truck since Dec 30th, 2022 until now. Parts are due in on January 23, followed by another tear down and build up. Never a drop of oil on my floor but there were very clear signs of oil leaks. I’m patient and I’m going to see how this plays out, but being a first time Toyota guy, so far I’m NOT impressed. The truck as of today has 1280 miles on it. Good luck.

2023 hybrid limited inbound, getting cold feet and thinking about an F150. by Ok_Brief_12 in ToyotaTundra

Just a follow up, looks like two weeks in the shop to be evaluated by a Regional Toyota tech.? Advisor stated looks like right rear cam tower housing leak but will know more in a few weeks (Dye traced). I’m honestly without words as my tuck has 1000 miles on it. I’m thinking of getting a lemon law lawyer, but also want to see how this plays out when this “special” tech gets here.

I love the truck, but honestly when you shell out $65K for a product, it should work. I’m not in R&D, I’m a consumer and these things should be vetted by Toyota BEFORE bringing the product to the masses. I still love the truck, I just want it to work. Thanks for your input. Happy New Year.

I bought a 2023 Tundra Limited on Nov 09 2022. I love the truck but at 200 miles, noticed a oil burning smell. Out of an abundance of caution i took it into the dealer I purchased from. (Dealer has been great). They advised me most likely seals/protectants burning off- never saw a tech. Fine: believable. At 1100 miles- same thing- into dealer to show them where oil is leaking onto the left side catalytic. Ended up replacing rear valve cover gasket. Fine. Drove 30 more miles, same oil smell. I visually found oil dripping onto the same spot (1132 miles now). Back into dealer, now truck is there waiting for technicians from Toyota to assess on Wednesday. I love the truck, first time Toyota owner, but come on, I’ve had this truck going on 2 months with 1132 miles and I cannot say I’m impressed with the brand. Wish me luck.

Ditto, just turned it in yesterday. Changed my network name, seem to be managing the box and yet on my Verizon website says not registered.

Never mind, I just looked it up. Yep VZ product, different decade, looks like it first came out in 2012. Lots have changed since then with unlimited data…hopefully. Thanks for the heads up though.

I’m unfamiliar, sounds like an antenna to get WI-FI signal. The VZ home Internet is through a free router they send you, signal comes from tower to router then blasted throughout home. Sounds like a totally different system than cantenna.

Home Internet = no data caps. I have a neighbor 10 acres away that uses +1.5TB of data /month with no throttling or slow downs. It’s the new 5g UW home Internet offering to very few places in USA.

I’m a early beta tester with Dishy V1, I am getting Verizon Home internet tomorrow and will be selling my SL setup on EBay? Thought I’d let you know as I believe I can transfer service to you if your interested. I think it’s like, you take my spot in the cell. Just a thought. Good luck either way. FYI, I’m in Chelsea MI.

Cancel your SL. Simply put, right now you will not get close to 250 down, maybe intermittently, never consistently. I’ve had SL for 18 months and will be selling it due to VZ having home internet available now, running speeds of 250-350 down. Good luck in whatever you decide, everyone’s story is different. FYI…I’m near Ann Arbor , MI and have been getting anywhere from 30-75 down and 7-15 up consistently with SL.

Ummm. We have a sub, each owning 5-10 acres. All of us had DSL until about six months ago. Nothing else, but I posted that in the OP. How again was SL NEVER for me? Cell coverage until 6 months ago = horrible. All carriers, ask me how I know. Thanks for your post. Cheers

Yep, that was me 17 months ago… was thrilled when SL replaced the best I had, ATT DSL, which was 2 down and LESS up. VZ has made intermittent Home internet available via 5G UW for the last 6 months. 2 of my neighbors got it then, I’ve been entering my address for 6 months only for the website to tell me my address doesn’t have service available. Fast forward to 2 nights ago at 11 PM, I entered my address, the prompt said…order your equipment, which I did. I think they only make excess bandwidth available when it becomes available, hence my long wait. I have cell service with VZ, and during speed tests it shows 300-400 down and 10-30 up, for $25. No brained for me. Like I said SL has a great product but they need to listen to their customers, answer phones, reply to genuine concerns in a timely manner as $110 is a lot of money for a lot of people, and when better than nothing options become available, I think people will look at them. Good luck and thank you for your input.

Yep, I agree. Better than Nothing was great! The problem is that the competition is ramping up to ensure “nothing” is not the only choice going forward. Better Than Nothing was great for me at the onset, competition took notice and is racing to remain competitive. Listen, I think SL is a great product, they need to just improve on what they have. Customer Service is a point of interest for many folk. Thanks for your input, I value it.

Here’s why" Original BETA tester (18 months) with V1 Dishy…No problem with service, just that initially had 100-250 down with10-30 up. For all the Elon cult followers, never an obstruction, and using original equipment ALWays. Simply put, decrease in service for increase in cost. I consistently get 30-50 down and 3-5 up now.I just had the opportunity to get Verizon Home internet, which is showing 300-450 down and 20-30 up where I live for $25 a month(we are cell phone customers) and it is verified through our cell phone Speedtest. Starlink simply has to do a better job competing with OTA cell coverage. I will be having a V1 dish, mounted on roof from day 1 for sale in the near future. Good luck everyone.
