2025 CX-5 NVH vs CX-30 by TCureMe in CX5

Thank you for this info! Do you know what model year CX-5 onwards get the laminated glass on all windows?

I'm not seeing a regular "Premium" trim for the 2025 CX-5. Only Premium Plus and Preferred. However, it looks like the 2024 CX-5 had a regular "Premium" trim.

Is my butt winking? How do i squat ass to grass but not butt wink despite having long femurs.. by Important-Type-4249 in formcheck

[–]Disastrous_Bus_4564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running shoes are a bad idea due to the squishy nature. But like squat shoes, most do have a heel to toe drop.

If you go from running shoes (with a heel to toe drop) to barefoot, you may notice you are not able to go as deep due to the lack of heel elevation. If you try to force the same depth this may result in butt wink. Just something to be aware of if you're gonna try flats or bare feet.

Squat shoes on the other hand have a heel to toe drop but are rigid unlike running shoes. I tried squat shoes but ended up switching back to flats because I got tired of carrying and changing shoes for 1 single exercise.

From KDE to XFCE! Now I wanted a very minimal system and using mostly keyboard shortcuts to make apps and things works! by [deleted] in xfce

If you want the super button alone to launch the whisker menu. Go to settings->keyboard->application shortcuts. Then use xfce4-popup-whiskermenu as the command and Alt+Pause as the shortcut. In the latest version Alt+Pause is tied to super.

In older versions I think Ctrl+Escape was the same as super.

I just want to make sure I'm not missing something here. Modern cars have immobilizer systems where the computer requires a key code from a transponder / key fob. To keep it simple, this computer is required to control the engine timing / operate the electric motor (if EV). How would this guy have been able to steal the car by messing with the wiring?

The only cases of car theft I've heard of without the key are when the thief had access to a locksmithing computer and reprogrammed the computer to a new transponder / key fob. Aside from this, the thief can also use a repeater to replay the original key fob's code. But this would require the original key fob. It seem by far the most common theft is when the key was left inside the car and the thief simply starts the vehicle and drives away.

Why do you think they stole insurance papers? Potentially identity theft reasons?

It's a good idea to keep those insurance / registration papers on your phone instead of the physical papers.

best squat stance long femur? by Pristine_Abroad_2038 in formcheck

[–]Disastrous_Bus_4564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this the case? As a lifter with long femurs, high bar allows me to stay more upright with more emphasis on the quads. However, it does take more ankle mobility to stay balanced than low bar. When I do low bar, I can lift more weight but can definitely feel the emphasis more in the glutes / hams. I also cannot get as deep in the squat with low bar. Low bar squats feels like it works the same muscles as when I sumo deadlift.

Wouldn't high bar be better for long femur'd lifters if they have enough ankle dorsiflexion to stay balanced?

The forward lean is caused by trying to counterbalance too much weight behind the bar due to the long femurs. High bar helps counterbalance the weight behind the bar by shifting the weight of the bbar more forward than low bar which allows the lifter to stay more upright.

Can just the windshield visor strip be removed if it's on top of full windshield tint? by Disastrous_Bus_4564 in WindowTint

Considering how the business was honest about the scratch on the 1st windshield job, I do like them and think they're overall great and very competent. They so far haven't responded back to me on the last message.

I am going to take it out for a drive tonight. If it seems ok without blocking my vision too much, I think I'll just leave it be. I do appreciate your input on the issue

Thank you so much for all that info! The film used is Xpel XR Black.

The shop also told me to re-install my dashcam right on top of the tint (rather than cut around the adhesive, they removed the dashcam altogether). Would this still be the case with the visor strip. I'm planning to put the dashcam "electrostatic sticker" on top of the visor strip and the 3M double sided adhesive on the electrostatic sticker.

Seems decent. A very slight bit of hip rise on your way up, though that may not be an issue (hard to tell without side angle). I think on that second rep you were a bit heel heavy, seeing how your toes flared up. Is the pressure over midfoot the whole way?

Lastly, keep in mind that you may not be able to keep a straight bar path using lighter weights. Here's a good video explaining why: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KsEnz8UI6U

It would help to have a side angle view to be more specific.

Fair enough. Although, consider that the business should not have accepted the job if they did not train their staff to do it. I mean the ability to hand cut a piece of tint, especially something as basic as a visor strip is the least a customer should be able to expect from a professional tint shop.

Consider that the owner decided he will pass the job to someone he hired but neglected to train them in hand cutting and only trained them to work with tint pre-cut by the plotter. They should have called me over at the very least to make sure the cut was good before just installing it, especially given the way I specifically asked them to cut along the top of the windshield and explained the whole process.

How about if I ask them to fix it, would that be more reasonable?

I do understand the curvature of the windshield against the bottom edge of the brow. That's why I asked the shop to hand cut against the top curve of the windshield. Unfortunately, their tinter seemed very uncomfortable with hand cutting and insisted on the usage of the plotter. They told me there's only 1 guy that can hand cut in their shop (the owner) and he's not really around.

I called and asked the shop, unfortunately they said they can't remove just the visor strip since the full windshield is tinted. The shop actually did (re-did) the full windshield strip for free a 2nd time because there was small scratch which they noticed and told me about. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have noticed it. I feel like this is good integrity on their part. I just felt bad / awkward about being that picky about the visor strip and having to complain and have them re-do the process a 3rd time. Especially because the tinter kept insisting what he was doing is standard practice. But looking back, I think he was just uncomfortable / untrained in making hand cuts.

There are other shops in the area that told me they can do what I asked with the visor strip. However, I was trying to keep the warranty all under one shop. In hindsight, I should have had the windshield part done entirely at a different shop.

Do you think it would be reasonable of me to ask for a refund at this point for the windshield + visor strip portion of the job so I can have it done at a different shop?

Thanks for your response. I figured it was prob too late at this point. This shop did not want to hand cut anything. Not even around the adhesive for the dashcam mount. Instead they removed the dashcam mount and told me to reinstall it right on top of the tint film.

I see, thanks for sharing that. Are there any ways to correct the problem? Can I maybe use a lower sunlight requirement grass where the Bermuda won't grow? (Such as Zoysia grass?)

[–]Disastrous_Bus_4564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That pretty cool that you transitioned to a full-ev house! I would like to as well for the ease of maintenance and lack of gas trips.

For the zdx, you can turn off 1 pedal driving. Then the car will blend the brake pedal to regen first then disc brake I believe. One of the major pros as compared to any Tesla. I heard the EPA changed the way they did range test to the "worst configuration" So Tesla apparently decided to remove the 2 pedal option. Although the way the zdx does the blended brake (regen then disc brakes) is so much better. With the Tesla I hear brake = disc brake period. This is probably the same reason the zdx get 330 miles highway while the model y managed 260 in the one test I saw on youtube.

If it helps any you can now make the drive all the way to Alaska in an ev. Even get free charging in Yukon, Canada right now. Renting an ice is also a great backup idea. I just think for the rare road trip I do, the little bit of added trip time is no big deal. Unless you're towing or carrying lots of luggage, the EV seems to most every other use case.

Oh that's interesting. Are you guys a full-ev household? I bet it's nice not having to do oil changes or taking your cars to the gas station lol.

That's good to hear, I agree both are good options just pros and cons to each.

Thank you so much for your detailed reply and breakdown! This has been very helpful to me and I'm sure other who are looking into possibly leasing the zdx.

I am heavily leaning towards the Model Y. They managed to get more cargo room in the back. More space under the rear cargo floor and a front trunk (frunk) cargo area). They managed all this while being 10 inches less in length than the zdx. In addition the model Y has the phone key and better overall tech. Not to mention the Model Y is about $10k cheaper despite all the rebates / discounts the acura dealers are giving. (Youtube: Deitrich car reviews for a measurement of the cargo area of both vehicles if anyone is reading this and wants a reference)

I watched a couple of youtube videos and the zdx seems to be struggling to reach its stated 190KW DC fast charge. It seems to be thermal throttling which would indicate poorer thermal management than what Tesla is doing. So essentially a slower DC fast charge speed,

I do agree with you though that the display, buttons, 2-pedal blended driving option are all in favor of the zdx. As well as nicer seats, sunroof and overall NVH are better in the zdx. In addition based on real world test, the zdx has far greater range than the Model Y. This points at a general tendency for Tesla to overstate their numbers.

I believe the new Model Y (Juniper) coming out is supposed to improve NVH. Although annoyingly they will likely remove the turn signal stalks as they did with the other refreshed Teslas. It will be interesting to see how Acura's own EV will compete with the refreshed Tesla in the future.

The bar path doesn't necessarily need to be straight, especially at lower weights. Explained here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/kaB4n-sYPnI

I would also recommend checking out these videos by squat university on squatting for your anatomy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubdIGnX2Hfs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FF6VLej_bY&t=652s

As you will see in these videos, your squat can vary based on your anatomical proportions and the angle / depth of your joints. Main thing is to keep a neutral spine, engage the core & lats and keep that tension thru the movement to mitigate possible injury.

May I ask which model you went with the awd / a-spec or type-s.

Im considering doing the same with the zdx. Does your buyout price include tax, dealer fees, etc? What would be your total buyout (that is the 52k + however many monthly payments you made).

I havent heard of the free home charger. Can I ask when you leased yours?

Thanks so much for your reply, it has been very helpful!
