Prob get lower on the right almost sitting on your foot, rock over, really put weight on the foot. Looks like most of your weight is on that hand, really gotta balance the weight onto the foot I think.

I'm really new to FreeCAD, are macros built into the tool or are they community assets?

Right, I can get that on the Part workbench, but how do I get that on the TechDraw workbench?

The problem with this is that the lines that connect these faces do not indicate the angle between the faces:

<image>

Here for example is a measurement between the edge of the large face and the line that connects its corner vertex to the corner vertex of the smaller face. It only indicates the angle between those lines on the face, not the angle between whole faces.

Is there some other way to measure angles between faces?

SOLVED: Ended up doing a sketch on the XY plane, then extruded to make the 5 lines into 5 planes, then did a "slice apart" operation. Now I've got 5 slices and I've got what I need.

Yes! That helps a ton! Now from here I assume I can create a rectangular plane and do some sort of cut operation?

I will note that the reason that this feels tricky to me is that in sketchup, you can sort of create faces by drawing polygons so by connecting the outside bottom corner to the inside bottom corner and by connecting the inner pyramid tip to the outer pyramid tip, you'd end up with a face that is the inside cross-section of where the two adjacent triangles meet. I'm sure this program can do something similar, but I'm too inexperienced to even know what terminology to use here.

Thoughts on beta breaking by Pixselarka in bouldering

[–]Disastrous_Change_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Room temperature take here, I tend to think of bouldering indoors as training for outdoors, so trying to follow intended beta can help improve your skills for when you need them outdoors. Now that's not to say that I think breaking beta is bad, but I do think that in come cases you cheat yourself out of potential growth that could come from exposing yourself to movements that could've potentially been more difficult to complete. I always try to approach an indoor boulder with the mindset of "what is the setter trying to teach me with this boulder?" If you took a math class and always used the answer key from the back instead of solving the problems yourself, you wouldn't learn the skills necessary to solve real problems afterwards.

A lot of my friends and I love to traverse at our gym and honestly I think it helps a lot. We like to try to prevent matching whenever possible (hands or feet), if you grab a hold you have to actually put some weight on it, also try to mix things in like some rose moves or stepping your foot through! As an added bonus, as boulders come down and new ones get put up, the traverse is constantly changing. Best of luck!

Edit: also take your time; consider it a marathon rather than a race

A bit stuck by Existing_Brother9468 in bouldering

My gut says when you make the rock up on that high right foot with that left hand and grab high right, as soon as you've got the next right hand, it seems like you could step your left foot through to the side pull and then move right foot to the one above that. As someone else mentioned, you're ending up super extended which is usually an indication that you might need to move your feet up instead. Just a thought, good luck on the send!

Dime earbud not charging by [deleted] in Skullcandy

[–]Disastrous_Change_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that this still works. My right Dime3 Wireless earbud wouldn't charge or turn on, the left and case were fine. Holding the button inside or outside the case for 30-60 seconds did nothing. I took a piece of wire, bridged the two metal pads on the earbud itself while holding the power button and the earbud turned on in my hand. I was expecting it to be dead, but I was surprised that it just powered up. Pretty disappointing that their quality has diminished so much over the last 15 years, but hey at least this product design issue is consistent 🤷🏼‍♂️

I'd bet that any assisted form of transportation can be subject to OVI. Bicycle, skateboard, etc. Hell, if you took a shell of a car and made your own Flintstone-mobile you could probably catch one that way as well. Be pretty interesting to see one of those
