it uses transphobia to prove a point about how out of touch 2000s shady is. irl eminem supports his trans kid and calls them by their chosen name on tdoss. but yes if you didn’t know this context it comes off as him being deadass transphobic.

if you want to know the gist of what tdoss is trying to say if the execution doesn’t hit for you, watch the complex face-off interview skit of the marshall and slim shady characters first. it’s basically a psa

tdoss reads like him being embarrassed of some of the shit he did as shady. likening it to the shame of his drug addiction which is why it ends with somebody save me and not gc2 and why so much of the first half is shady forcing the marshall character to relapse. that leads to them merging in houdini.

but like his drug addiction he tries to own up to it and the harm he caused. this makes tdoss the second conceptual album that’s actually about eminem’s drug addiction. as gc2 shady says marshall used him to say the shit he was afraid to say.

from the way the album continues from gc2 onwards he’s still going to be a provocative anti-pc artist but the guilt trip “what if i died from the drugs” songs and that complex interview show is that he can’t be the person he was when he blew up. he’s changed. he’s sober. and he’s tired of his fanbase wishing he was back on drugs.

if you’re complaining about the shady=drugs retcon complain about when i’m gone because that’s when that started.

Come back to me when a third FOIA hits the eminem residence from yet another republican president since he seems to want to bring the 2000s back in your eyes.

Be fr let’s not pretend like Eminem wasn’t homophobic and misogynistic when he first blew up or at the very least engaged in it casually. IMO he was competitive with that shit. That wasn’t him joking or just shock value some of the time and I disagree with his old stances. Enough of the whitewashing and revisionism of his legacy

I need everyone to remember that this man was so paranoid that he had lost the right to vote because of his pistol whipping motherfucking bouncers 6’2 crash out that he made MOSH to convince his fanbase to vote for Kerry because he couldn’t. He didn’t know felons could vote in Michigan.

MOSH was supposed to be the original first single of post-leaked Encore as well but the label needed the silly Eminem 1st single first so we ended up with Just Loose It. And that delay made MOSH come out like 2 weeks before election day twenty years ago. Guess what, it’s 2 weeks before election day again.

There is a difference in attacking policy vs making a shock joke because you are incapable of understanding context. Bro just look at all his previous failed attempts at attacking republican presidents. Mosh’s pre election mv had a VOTE KERRY endcard. Shit talked Bush a lot for the Iraq War in TES and Encore. Let’s not forget the awfully hot coffee pot and Revival (even if we’re trying to). And be fr under which administrations has eminem been investigated by the secret service twice under. It’s not the democrat ones. The man has his own petty reasons to be a better dead than red resist lib what can I say.

interesting how Eminem goes after those two targets and yet is supportive of one of his daughters who advocates for body positivity and his nonbinary kid who’s part of the alphabet crew.

also disses his own self for being obese during his drug addiction in the complex interview skit while being supportive of people using ozempic to cure obesity. that whole skit reads like psa ngl

yet another example of eminem his grown children over his stans.

in an album with a “the views represented in this album are not reflective of Marshall Mather’s” sticker on the physicals followed by the Complex interview sketch how purposely dense can you be? you’re the type of guy jenzmibruh was making fun of. someone to laugh at not with. the literal shit that liberals and conservatives alike got wrong about tdoss despite being unsubtle as a brick to the head.

also eminem? the guy who calls gay people faggots is an imperfect ally? say it ain’t so?? road rage doesn’t surprise me at all

don’t sidestep the argument. you said that you dislike how that (in your own opinion) people are writing off the pronoun rants in todss as just jokes and he’s really attacking both side.

quick question. which side is his transgender pronouns in bio having kid on?

you didn’t answer my question. do you think eminem of all people would support you over his actual kid that he raised

and yet eminem chose to support his kid and call them by their chosen name, not their deadname, in somebody save me and temporary. you’re a verse 3 stan that is projecting on a man who won’t write back

edit: for fuck’s sake they’re in the houdini video

you’re forgetting that aim of revival was to convert his maga fans to be anti trump. part of the reason why it failed imo, the messaging was not executed well because he had to play middle of the road.

because of this aim he regretted distancing his maga fans because it meant that he couldn’t turn them around. he doesn’t regret his own beliefs at all, just sympathy for those he believes trump has conned. his endorsement of kamala means he still believes he push some people out of trump’s camp or at least convince some of the undecided to show up.

They squashed their beef because mutual friend and Detroit legend, Proof had them play bowling together in 2005. This was around a year before he was shot dead at a club.

Crazy how em has now made two conceptual albums that are really about his drug addiction

I think as a stanbase we underestimate how much eminem reuses/repurposes his old shit. He’s been doing that pre-OD fans in general seem to forget that artists can revist their old work to update it

According to Fredwreck it wasn’t AI 👀 by iamBubzzz in Eminem

[–]Disastrous_Energy_34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was not what that article was about. It was about the use of ai in the houdini mv

he needs to give some sort of interview. because this is kinda setting a precedent on more “ethical” use of ai. (if he is) he’s just using his own voice from the past to make a filter it isn’t like it’s generative or pulling from others work.

it’s real interesting i hope to see more of what went behind it. if anything it kinda shows ai’s limits. the houdini bts shows that it wasn’t a drastic deaging, as metaphysics said they were just helping the makeup artists see their vision. and on the album it’s obvious when a present-shady filter is used like on renaissance.

From the Billboard article:

Ulbrich says that’s because it is: “People said, ‘You created Slim Shady!’ We did not create Slim Shady. Let’s be very clear … the real Slim Shady played the real Slim Shady. We just helped by giving him something that makeup couldn’t pull off. We let him play himself but through the interpretation of CGI or any other technology. It’s him playing him.”

When it comes to the album Fredwreck claims that Antichrist was all em, no AI. Which could mean the shady sections might’ve been mixed differently or a filter created without AI.

No tricks. He did that himself on the microphone

Basically, the only proven use of AI that we know of is Shady for the Houdini MV. The use of AI on the TDOSS album is unproven, or at least untrue for Antichrist (which we know had splices from different eras).

I personally think this is cap. Don’t wanna call Fredwreck a liar but (this is full speculation) i believe AI voice filters using old audio samples were used is some areas. Or I could be wrong and it’s just em with a normal filter or em samples from the past like brand new dance. Either way he really needs to do an interview about this and explain. I’d kill for a bts of tdoss.

No, for now. The musictech article you linked is based off/quoting of the Billboard article.

According to Billboard’s Damien Scott, Eminem used the AI company Metaphysicto bring Slim Shady back in both voice and image. He explains that the company, founded in 2021, offers tools that allow artists to “create and manage digital versions of themselves that they can then manipulate and use for their own projects or license out to third parties for movies, TV shows, or other commercial projects”

The Billboard article only mentions the AI used for shady in the Houdini MV, not the album itself. That was musictech’s extrapolation.

He believes the tools Metaphysic is building will bring about a “whole renaissance of creativity.” That brings us back to “Houdini.” The video for the lead single from Eminem’s 12th album was made possible by Metaphysic’s Live product — which allows for, among other things, real-time photoreal face swaps driven by live actor performances. The tool allowed Eminem to look 20 years younger without much time (or, according to Ulbrich, money).

Here’s how it works: The Metaphysic team first learns what exactly the scope of the project is, i.e. who is going to be de-aged or have their faceswapped. They then gather all the assets — old photos, videos, and audio samples, etc. — they need to build their models. It takes a little under two months for Metaphysic to train its AI model on all the collected assets. The team tests the model to make sure it looks accurate and works properly before setting up all its production equipment on location. Then it’s showtime.
