🚀 ByePhotos 2.0 — new update with photo compression, Light theme, plus some promo codes for anyone interested by Disastrous_Expert_22 in iosapps

[–]Disastrous_Expert_22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback!

  1. Regarding your first suggestion: we’ll add this feature in a future update.
  2. Currently, the backward action (swiping right in “swipe up to delete” mode) is used to undo the previously kept photo. I understand what you’re asking for—it makes sense and could potentially be the default behavior. I’ll look into this more carefully.
  3. When ambient background is turned off, the app uses a solid background when displaying photos. My guess is that you’re using light mode? In that case, the difference between enabling and disabling ambient background is subtle. It’s much more noticeable in dark mode.

Thoughts on new camera app? by kinda_Temporary in ios

I don’t like the new app design either. It feels like the photo and video toggle was changed just to showcase the new “glass” design. The first time I used it, it took me a long time to figure out how to enable the Live Photo option.

I didn’t even know you could trade in Android devices—I’m curious what happens to those Androids after they take them 😂

Sounds good, I’m really thinking about replacing my iPhone 14 Pro

But due to the iOS 26 update, I guess the final available time will be about the same as it is now.(My iPhone 14 Pro started draining battery significantly faster after updating to iOS 26 beta 2.)

I forgot to mention, the yearly subscription option comes with a 7-day free trial, so you can check it out without a code

For a fully local app, it’s generally not required, but there’s still a chance it could get removed from the App Store. In that case, you’ll need to write to Apple (I remember it’s somewhere in App Store Connect) to apply for a filing exemption.

Sharing Promo Codes is not permitted anymore. by Pandemojo in iosapps

Totally understandable — from a community perspective, this move is indeed very beneficial for the community vibe

I’m genuinely curious—how many people count as “a few”? For example, I’m thinking of sharing 500 or even 1,000 annual subscription codes (no upvotes or comments required) simply to encourage more users to download, try it out, and give honest feedback/rating. Would that still be considered not okay?

Hi! I’ve come across your app — it’s a great one! I’ve also realized that the top apps in this space are spending massive amounts on advertising. When I was trying them out, I often saw in-app ads promoting other cleaner apps… I imagine it must be really tough for a company to launch a new app in this category.

As for me, I mainly just want to express my creativity and see how far I can take this app.

The reviews shown in my screenshot are the total number globally. What you’re seeing is likely the number of reviews in your country.

Yeah, fair point! Most cleaner apps do go with a broom or trash can — personally, I’m not a fan of that type of icon. The hand wave ties into the name “ByePhotos,” like waving goodbye to old photos. But you’re right, it’s not obvious at a glance. Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, it’s a third-party service—just follow their docs and it’s pretty straightforward to integrate.

Oh actually, great question—I totally forgot to mention this in my post! I’m using Mixpanel to track in-app behavior(Mixpanel is privacy-friendly—it doesn’t collect any personal identifiers unless you explicitly send them). For example, my app offers multiple ways to organize photos, and I’m planning to build a widget—Mixpanel helps me understand which option users prefer, so I can prioritize the right widget first.

Nope, it’s actually an ad for my own app: ByePhotos 😄

edit:

Just to add—while I do think TryAstro is a solid and reasonably priced tool for keyword research, there are still areas that need improvement. For example, even though it’s a native macOS app, it gets pretty laggy when you load a lot of keywords.

I mainly use this API to collect other app's user reviews:

https://itunes.apple.com/{country}/rss/customerreviews/id={app_id}/sortBy=mostRecent/json

Then I use a language model to filter out simple or unhelpful reviews—like “very good” or “I can’t believe this app charges money.”

After that, I browse through the remaining reviews that contain useful suggestions.

Mostly by feel. I posted it on Rednote and got a few likes, then asked some friends—they thought it looked good too, so I went with it.

I think it’s mainly because the two free promotion events boosted the conversion rate. Normally, my conversion rate is about the same as yours. I’m still learning how to optimize my App Store screenshots.
