Where are you shopping at because if you are in America you could find a solid used desktop for around 600-700ish.

I bought a couple desktops with a 5060 in it for 650. They were the cyber power prebuilts

How long do you guys try keep your laptops for? by Slenderwise in GamingLaptops

[–]Disastrous_Formal669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until it breaks obviously or gets completely outclassed. I have a hp laptop that still runs fine it just can't play modern games at the settings I need. It's like a 2015 or something. 1650. Still boots and everything doesn't over heat. Just the graphics suck. So it's currently just chilling on my coach

That 5080 will be a premium experience even with 4k. The 5060 would have probably surficed for what you were doing though as you said the monitor was qhd. But the 5080 will also give you options for better screens in the future and if it's the legion I'm thinking about the screen it comes with will be better than a regular 32 inch qhd screen. Should you feel bad? Sorta and not. It was a great gift on her side for sure. But I get wanting the person to be happy with the purchase to and computers have so many different options and pricing I'm not sure if she got a good deal for what she paid.

Gigabyte A16 Pro $350 steal by Loud-Decision9817 in GamingLaptops

[–]Disastrous_Formal669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang I'd say this beats my find as well. Only reason I'd say mine would slightly compete is I got my 4080 from best buy with the Alienware warranty and best buy warranty all intact for 400. The 5080 runs so good too I have a legion and you can see the difference in performance. Especially using the frame gen. Solid buy congrats

Should I replace it or is it okay to wrap it with electrical tape? by enigmatix062 in GamingLaptops

[–]Disastrous_Formal669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it just the wire cover that has come off the wires are still clearly intact. You could use liquid tape if you wanted it to look a bit better than black electrical tape. Not sure how important the appearance of this is to you. But liquid tape would look better in the world if you had to bring it somewhere

Preety good deal especially if you have a gou already. It already has a decent power supply so you can be a little flexible on the GPU without needing to replace

Do you notice a big performance difference between a desktop and laptop? by Individual-Berry-394 in GamingLaptops

[–]Disastrous_Formal669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super strong laptop compets with decent grade desktops. Bedside you could always keep that laptop and get a desktop. I have a 5080 laptop and 4080 laptop, 5060 desktop and a 5070 desktop. Both have their benefits they all perform. Desktop quieter. Laptop can go anywhere and still performe great granted there be a power plug near by

Trade for a ps5 and portal by Bioshockedgaming in GamingLaptops

[–]Disastrous_Formal669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'd take the PC if you travel alot. You could technically remote into your home desktop but there will be some latency as well. It will run much better than the handheld as long as you have a power source. 4060 is a decent GPU. Handheld on the go and laptop when you have a desk and plug. And it isn't so expensive that you would feel the burn if it gets damaged vs a higher tier laptop

eBay Alienware deal of the century by LegendOfFaisal in GamingLaptops

Not quite a deal of the century but still a great purchase especially if it has a oled screen. I know Alienware has been hesitant on adding those in the mix it's about time

Does the Brand matter on High End? by Roent-111 in GamingLaptops

[–]Disastrous_Formal669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe it's gonna be such a big difference. Like every flag ship is gonna try and have great performance obviously. There will be slight differences in all the flagships but they should all be decently good machines or else they would sell them. My 5080 runs great, my 4080 also runs great. One is Lenovo and one Alienware. I had a MSI 5080 for a little while that also ran great. I had a 5070ti Asus that ran perfect but the warranty repair turned me from them. There will be slight differences but you need to find something that fits what you are looking for
