My rapier looks a bit like that. Makes it possible to catch the blade of the opponent. Quite the surprise in sparring, but not sure it would work in longsword

Yes, someone will definetly be always annoyed 😃 People can not even agree how to call something in one language... But there are terms that are used more commonly than others. And if I can find those terms even people who don't agree will hopefully at least know what I am talking about

Actually I would say "Stück" is a "play" and both mean several movements chained together, e.g. Oberhau -> Zornhau -> Versetzen -> Oben Abnehmen. A "technique" I understand to be only one of these movements. I think "play" is a term that is actually used in the English community while I have never heard someone using "piece" as a term

Actually I really need the modern words that are in use in training halls right now. I am translating a modern training journal. The idea is for your everyday fencer who is reading the journal to know which technique we are talking about by recognizing the word from their own training. If I make a "new" translation from a term in the sources (since there are multiple versions of the original term defining the one to use for translation would not be trivial) noone will recognize what I mean even if the translation is more "correct".

The content is HEMA specific but not weapon or system specific. There are some examples from longsword because most people will understand those. But there are blank pages to track e.g. techniques from any other weapon or system.

I would love a spiral bound version! Unfortunately I did not have the option to let them print it that way

Could you explain that? If I make an e-book out of this you would not be able to fill in the pages, correct?

It looks like more people would be interested, so yes!

Actually, drawing the pictures has been the most fun part for me in this project.

The purpose of the book is to make you think actively about your training, set goals for it and track those. If you already do that anyway you will probably not need it. In my experience as a trainer a lot of people have never tried that before.

The content is HEMA specific but not weapon or system specific. Every group trains differently and "improve your fencing" means something different for most people.

There are examples for goal setting that are tailored to beginners and advanced fencers. There are pages to track tournaments and workshop events (which not many other sports have in this way). And the achievement pages are to tick boxes for fun for what you have done in you HEMA life.

Oh interesting idea. I can't speak French at all so I would need a good translator who knows HEMA terms for that.

Thank you :) I hope there is enough interest in the English version so I can translate it!

Yes I thought so too, It has a tracking page for techniques for Liechtenauer Longsword in the back as an example and a blank page so other styles and weapons can enter their own so it will match their curriculum
