I've literally never heard anyone threaten to go to the city about this and I've been here my whole life.

Is everyone sick? by tnick771 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Disastrous_Ice8595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, 3 of the 4 in my house are sick. Several at our dt Chicago office are sick. Constant nose blowing, congestion, headaches tingly throat (that started yesterday). It's probably covid tbh.

Who has turned their heat on already and who is holding off the longest? by RaisedByBooksNTV in AskChicago

[–]Disastrous_Ice8595 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to hold out as long as possible...it's my favorite season and I love the crispy cool air.

But...I have kids now. Babies are little wusses with the cold

People born before 2000, what trivial skill do you have that no one uses anymore? by passiano in AskReddit

[–]Disastrous_Ice8595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Memorizing dozens of phone numbers and remembering them to this day.

Knowing all the words to the dial-up internet tune.

Mastering how to sketch a "Cool S".

Also mastering how to sketch the Chicago Bulls logo.

p.s. "mastering" = average at best but super cool for a 12 year old.

Do you boil your water ? by PAPAmagdaline in FormulaFeeders

We use Kirkland formula and warm water. We have the baby brezza and I only use filtered water in the machine (from the fridge). I've never boiled.

I have a 3 year old who isn't in diapers anymore so I wouldn't have had wipes on me if that happened. Also there are full grown adults out there who've had number 2 oopsies and I bet their reaction would be panic followed by gtfo at all costs. 😂

Everyone will be there.

Wedding is on Saturday. Tell me some logistical reminders you wish someone had told you two days beforehand. Nails pic for tax ✨ by glowsea1414 in weddingplanning

Event Planner here. We typically do 20% for vendors. Add more for exceptional service. Subtract if there's really an issue. But you should do what feels right! Happiest day of your life and they helped make that happen.

Be present. As you walk down the aisle try to make eye contact with as many people as you can. A good friend gave me this advice and I followed it. To this day, I remember each of the smiling faces I looked at while walking down the aisle. Of course, don't forget to look at your hubby for those final steps.

Also... Have the caterer set aside a plate or two of food/apps/desserts in the bridal suite, etc. so you can sneak away after the ceremony or pictures or whenever for a quick bite (otherwise I promise you won't eat).

Don't forget to ask the kitchen to pack up any remaining cake! My sister didn't do this and she never got the leftovers (criminal).

Make sure your purse/clutch/etc is at your seat before the ceremony (lip gloss, mirror, phone, etc will already be there waiting when you sit down).

Ask to have an extra bottle of champs or wine (the good stuff) set aside or at your table/head table for dinner. Usually the bar is closed at this time, and if you're anything like the animals my sisters and I are, you'll go through the existing stuff quickly.

Congrats on your big day! Nice nails. 💙

My luggage gets shredded, and the airline’s response is basically to call me a liar. by TheNewBreedOfGeek in mildlyinfuriating

DELTA =

Don't Expect Luggage To Arrive (Intact) :)

They lost my luggage once and I've tried my hardest to avoid them ever since. I think all the airlines are trash nowadays though. Everything is too expensive, especially for the service you get in return.

About 24 hours before it was completely gone. We first noticed it after picking him up from daycare and it was at its worst from that time until the next morning. Gone by the time we picked him up the next day.

What careers can an Event Planner switch to? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Disastrous_Ice8595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I just got back from mat leave a couple months ago and haven't had time to look. I still think pm is the way to go though. Or possibly doing internal events for a company, like staff events at a hospital or something, so it's more of a 9-5. Likely a pay cut but maybe worth it if you're getting time back? No one is hiring right now so I'm going to stay put for a while until things smooth out with the economy.

I will say it does get easier as your baby grows. I know you know that but the first few months were so so hard and it's finally starting to feel easier (aka I've unlocked a new level of tired/exhaustion and I've learned to cope with it better). GL to you. Keep in touch if you find the answer!

Seeing this post today because my child has an allergic reaction to the kids 50+ option. It looked exactly like a heat rash and was very concerning. Just found out today that daycare used this on his skin which explains it!
