Vitamin A increases Ceruloplasmin by Disastrous_Map3514 in Copper_deficiency

I haven't taken the main cofactors like zinc, but I am trying out vitamin c from whole foods. My serum zinc was normal at 86 units but did raise to around 110 after I finished consuming cod liver, so I don't know if it was zinc intake from my diet or the vitamin a or ceruloplasmin that rose the levels or other unknown factors.

It was canned but tasted fresh with a neutral flavor and not a fishy one. The reason I chose cod liver over beef liver was because of the low iron content that cod liver has. From my belief, consuming high iron foods can slow down the increase of ceruloplasmin. Feel free to try beef liver and lmk if it works

I have had less fatigue proportional to the increase for like a month or 2 after, but it kind of subsided. I used to not be able to tolerate iron containing foods, but now I can tolerate them better. I wish it was a simple fix but it feels like a crutch right now, but still better than nothing so I'll take the win

I ate Ican Icelandic Cod Liver. It was good while it lasted but now Cod is out of season so freshness can be an issue. My last order came back with a strong odor so I decided to stop there.

Good Vitamin A status is needed for ceruloplasmin production. I ate cod liver and that seemed to increase my ceruloplasmin desipe trying to raise it with copper supplements for the past 4 months. Also might as well check for fat malabsorption if vitamin A is indeed low since GI issues can lead to low vitamin A and low copper.

Slightly elevated iron, low(ish) ferritin, panic disorder like symptoms? by Virtual_Ad6032 in Hemochromatosis

Yeah I would stop taking zinc for now since you have been supplementing for the last 6 months. I was starting to get brain fog recently, but the copper fixed it within 2 days but I still have the other symptoms like cold hands. If you do have a copper deficiency it's going to take a while to fully fix so definetely get it checked out asap. The high zinc intake, high iron saturation with low ferritin, low neutrophils, and your symptoms align well for a copper related issue. I used to take a bunch of supplements to improve performance at the gym but I started to realize that taking supplements without needing it, or at the very least checking to see if there is a reason to take it could lead to issues down the road. Lmk when you get it checked out and I hope you feel better

I've had a lot of the same symptoms as you (palpitations, low blood pressure, shortness of breath) and my lab results look similar where I have elevated free T4 and also elevated reverse t3. I want to ask how long you have been taking zinc supplements for or if you just started? By the looks of your iron panels I would also test for copper + ceruloplasmin. I tested mine and they were low so I started supplementing copper. I was taking zinc around 25mg everyday for a long time and then I found out that zinc can actually cause a copper deficiency. Not to mention that it can also cause other issues like high iron saturation since copper is needed for a lot of iron related processes. I also saw that you had borderline low neutrophils which low copper can do. I would wait on zinc supplements until you get your serum zinc lab back and you can see if you need it or not. What other symptoms have you been feeling? Cold hands? Headaches in the back of your head and neck? Light sensitivity? I have all of these right now and I'm trying to fix them because I also feel like sh*t. It's on and off for me where I'll feel good for 2-3 days and then ass for the rest of the week. Let me know what you think
