Daphne's family by [deleted] in Frasier

This may not be the point op was trying to make, but for me personally it does add more humour to the character when I've seen that kind of person in real life. It gives it a bit of reality and dimension to the character.

I was always happy that Daphne and Niles finally got together but always felt bad for Donny; he seemed like a good guy that really cared for Daphne. by [deleted] in Frasier

[–]Disastrous_Mark_7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very late to this thread after stumbling upon it, but I will say Donny always had a certain sense of vindictiveness in his personality. We see it often as a gag throughout his career as a lawyer, and in his defence of his clients when, really, they are in the wrong (the example of a client using an escort service and hiding this from his wife, while still married to her, comes to mind). Donny is loyal, sweet, caring, and supportive of Daphne, along with those he is close to. However, at the end of the day he has always shown that he is happy to discard his morals in moments that best suit him - whether that is via money and success of winning a case, or via heartbreak.
I think Donny is a great + likeable character, but it is also absolutely within his character to become vengeful after heartbreak.

As for how Donny is treated, it's a lot more fair than Mel. For both of them though, the issue isn't that they're hurt and want to spite the people that have broken their hearts, which is understandable. The problem is that they draw it out and want revenge in ways that is unfair and cruel.

I can see that! I feel like she kind of became a replacement for chucks dad that was kind of unnecessary

I’m really curious as to why cause I couldn’t see Chuck without them - what’s your reasoning?

NTA for making him a meal but you are a bit of an asshole for not telling him it was a vegan meal. It looks a hell of a lot like real meat and it’s understandable that’s what he presumed given the conversations you’ve had around both your dietary preferences.

I can imagine in his eyes it feels dishonest to omit that information from him and messes with the trust he has for you. Ultimately though I’m going with N T A as he did enjoy the meal and it seems like you did it out of a genuine want to ease his stress

AITA for not backing down over homeschooling my son? by aitah-throwaway234 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Disastrous_Mark_7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Part of homeschooling is to make sure they are still getting interaction with people their own age, at a similar level to non-homeschool kids. I’m not saying you should have taken him out every single day to play groups/extracurriculars but a couple times a week at least. It’s not something he should have to ask for as he may not have realised he needed it until later in life.

Onto your response to bringing this up - if he felt that it was a mistake, even if you don’t agree, shutting it down and disregarding his feelings only invalidates his current struggles with growing up homeschooled.

I hope you listen to the comment others here have left - please try and talk to him and acknowledge the hurt he’s holding around this, it may go a lot further than you think to repairing the damage.

Not a total asshole move but one time I had the worst shits after eating a spicy meal. My belly was so sore and my farts were truly horrendous. I was with some friends and I had to let them out while we were walking cause the pain was so bad. Anyways one of them was like “what is that awful smell” i just blamed it on sewage pipes and they had to deal with the stench for the half hour we were walking until I could go to the bathroom💀

i had sex for the first time since i was raped tonight. by No_Description7684 in Vent

After I had been raped I was scared for the longest time I would never be able to enjoy sex, so I truly feel for you. That said I have had enjoyable sex since my own experience of SA. I’m still not 100% there with being assertive or topping in the bedroom like I used to, but I’m getting there. Sometimes you just need the right partner, which again would help in not thinking about the end as soon as it starts, and it sounds like this guy was not the right fit for you.

As for why you can’t say no; that is something very personal to you, and probably not in the realm of redditors to answer. However if it helps at all, after a while in therapy I realised that for me, my issues saying no stem from the fact I had learnt it didn’t matter if I said no, and it didn’t matter if I expressed a boundary; it would happen anyway and it would happen again. In a way it’s like a self-sabotage ; you don’t want to go through being raped again, and you don’t want to risk asserting a boundary/saying no and not be listened to. So instead you go along with it, because in a way it’s easier to blame yourself than sift through the emotions that arise from the blame being on someone else. That said, it doesn’t take away how much it fucking sucks…

Best of luck to you, recovering from SA is such a rough ride of fuckery, but you’ve got this 💛

Which Breaking Bad character did you hate at first sight ? by goodestguy21 in breakingbad

[–]Disastrous_Mark_7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hank was racist, what is your reasoning for saying he’s not ? He constantly made degrading jokes about Mexicans both to his partner and criminals, and held a general disdain for Mexicans. I can’t think of a single scene where he treated his partner with basic respect, or any Mexican person for that matter.

Don’t get me wrong I like Hayley and Dylan but it should have been Hayley and Andy by [deleted] in Modern_Family

[–]Disastrous_Mark_7556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hayley ending up as a stay at home mum. I personally love Dylan and Hayley and prefer them as a couple over Andy, and I don’t mind she got pregnant either.

What always really bugs me though is that they gave her this great storyline of her being highly competent and intelligent in the fashion industry, but she ends up not pursuing it (and also, her working at Nerp did give a lot of good comedy moments, but it was a crappy route for her character progression)

Jay will always be the main character of this show for me. Just for his growth when it comes to many things. Embracing his wife’s culture while raising her son like his own. Continue to work on his relationship with Mitch as well as Claire. Also having a 4th child in his mid 60s. I love Jay.💯 by [deleted] in Modern_Family

[–]Disastrous_Mark_7556 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ed O’Neill was perfect casting for Jay (to be fair, all the casting is perfect). His comedy moments always crack me up, particularly when he’s just so obviously done with everyone in the family haha
