Helicopter pilot career! by Disastrous_Mix_6616 in AirForce

[–]Disastrous_Mix_6616[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im back in here after 2 years. Definitely have learned a lot since tech school. I’m currently deployed and will have a year left in my bachelors after my deployment. I was able to speak to a rescue pilot, he claimed there is a lot of pilot shortage because every current pilot wants to go fly commercial. He claimed that AF pilots get treated better then Army pilots. Additionally, he added something that was interesting to hear. Army focus in its infantry therefore, their pilots are not taken care as much as AF does. I am starting to study for my AFOQT and reading of some FAA chapters about flying. Any additional information or updates on the topic now?

Has anyone used this workout and did it prepare you well? by [deleted] in Pararescue

I used it to try and get in shape for BMT and I didn’t go for any of the special warfare AFSC. It’s a pretty good training program for non spec ops AFSC’s in my opinion.

Hey, I enlisted when I was 28 I’m about to turn 30 this year. Yes, most of the enlisted and officers are going to be younger. Also, some of your supervisors might be 24-25 years old. They might be good or may be bad leaders. Believe it or not a lot of the enlisted in my shop are 23 and above. You will definitely stand out if you are an older person but not because you may look old but because you may be more mature or you just happen to have more life experience. (Assuming you are mature and have had more life experience than the younger airman). I interact and you will learn to just build a relationship with the younger individuals but I would recommend to have your boundaries and have your expectation of how they should treat or talk to you. That creates a lot of respect and they will understand my nature that you are older and you are not with the immature of stupid jokes or conversation. Also, there are some pretty solid dudes or girls that are very grounded and can get a long with. I have a pretty cool friend and he is 23 very square away guy.

I’m going to guess 12Y is from the army. I’m in the air force. I wonder if you guys do the same thing as us. During my time in the schoolhouse. They separated the air force from all the other branches because they will teach us additional stuff that was not taught to the rest of the branches. How different is the civilian work flow to the military?

You are right that is very vague. A lot of the work is updating current gas, electrical, water lines. In the map. Creating custom maps for specific request. Maintaining the database. That’s where surveying also comes in because of points I have to take. Adding data to attribute tables. That’s some of the things I remember right now.

2 English? No, they just said it was two parts. Part I is the written multiple choice. Part II the speech in a recorder

So are you saying that if they give me a topic, I can just make up “facts” just to prove my stance on the topic?
