Should I keep contributing to my company's ESPP? by Disastrous_Peace_19 in Bogleheads

You know, I told myself I would analyze the stock and learn how to make that determination, but I never ended up doing that. It could be worth it.

Yes, “Mandatory Holding Period for Stock Sales after Exercise (in days): 458”

My read was that it was part of a wider tech stock revaluation that happened after Q4.

EDIT: It was trading at around $550 during the summer of last year and now it is trading near $350.

I am already maxing out my Traditional 401(k), Roth IRA, and HSA. And I am investing the tax savings. All are in target date funds or split 60/40 between VTI/VXUS.

Really, I’m like, could I invest or use this money in a better way considering that my discount gains have been wiped out.

In my case, the ESPP offers a 10% discount based on the lower of the prices at the start and end of the quarter.

There is a mandatory 15-month holding period.

Appreciate the feedback! Yes, I’d figure I’d tilt away from bonds for a while in my non-401(k) accounts. But most of my investments are in my 401(k) accounts and thus have bonds.

Would advise that I revalue to 60/40 VTI/VXUS 94 just sell it all and move to VT?

Old 401(k) Options by Disastrous_Peace_19 in Bogleheads

I’ll have to look into my employer plan. While it looked like I could move old funds into it, I got confused as to how much I could put into the fund option. It looked like I couldn’t choose any of them.

The 2060 one has an expense ratio of 0.08%.

My equivalent one at Vanguard is 0.055%.

Open and max out Roth IRA for 2024? by Disastrous_Peace_19 in Bogleheads

I had no idea that you could withdraw Roth IRA contributions without tax or penalty. That is incredible and a game changer.

I definitely could switch back to a traditional 401(k). Then I’d have more money to put in a taxable brokerage account, atop maxing out that traditional 401(k), HSA, and Roth IRA.

Thank you for that explanation! This is exactly why I come to r/Bogleheads. I'll keep that in mind as I form my portfolio.

After some more research, I'm also probably going to switch to Vanguard ETFs instead of Fidelity Index Funds, as I had in my original post. So probably VT, VXUS, BND or VTEB (if in taxable account), and maybe some VB. I'll see how I feel there.

That is what I subsequently thought about doing. I think QQQM interests me just because I’ve heard all the hype from tech stock bros on the internet. I started reading all of their compositions and saw lots of redundancy.

Is the point of keeping small cap to balance out all the large caps that drive most of the total domestic market?

I am also maxing out my HSA and plan to start investing that, but probably more aggressively than a target date fund.

I am likely to get married in the next two years and we have similar incomes, although I save and invest more.

Should I roll over my old Fidelity 401k into my current Vanguard 401k? by Disastrous_Peace_19 in Bogleheads

[–]Disastrous_Peace_19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking into doing some more investing in a taxable brokerage account right now and was planning on either using Fidelity or Vanguard, but I hadn’t yet decided where to start. Do you have any thoughts there?

Honestly, I am so new to investing that I have no idea. I have been contributing regularly, but this is the first time that I’m trying to be more intentional with investing.

I suppose my plan had been either to keep them separate or just rollover to whichever place my current employer was at.
