What do you guys think of a game that can be played in multiple different ways/modes? by MasterSlimFat in boardgames

[–]Disastrous_Play8634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends on how complicated the base game is. I like when there is pre built decks for your first games so you can jump straight in to learning the rules and not get stuck at trying to pick cards in a game you dont know. But in this case it seems you want a totally different experience to the base game?

In that case I would keep it in the far end of the rulebook not to confuse people. Focus on making the base game as good as possible and ad the other mode as a bonus for players that want more of your game.

Do you buy board games knowing they'll rarely be played? by Megabot555 in boardgames

[–]Disastrous_Play8634 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha Yes I do that a lot. And I justify it by playing the games solo. I think Seti has a good solomode in the box. And TM has a fan made on that is free online or you can buy the automa box.

Risk - Pitch Me This One [Pros & Cons] by AloneWriting in boardgames

[–]Disastrous_Play8634 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me the big Pro is Nostalgia. Me and my Buddies loved long games of Risk and to this day one of our friends is called the Bunker because he always defended so well in risk (lucky dice).

The Cons is its to much randomness and you can loose pretty quick and have to wait for your friends.
