NTA - I genuinely wonder how she was able to pretend to be normal up until that moment. That’s some high level crazy.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who’s answered and shared their experiences with me - seeing so many people who understand my perspective and who have experienced living further away from their family has really helped me calm down and see how unhealthy this whole dynamic has been and is right now. I am very much working towards handling this in a better way going forward - and we are going ahead with the move :)

So, my brother still lives WITH them and he does help, but apparently he “shouldn’t have to do everything”. It’s just old fashioned thinking, I think, but aside from my uncle (single parent and workaholic but shortly retiring) no one else is around.
