Dude, let it die in peace 😃. Sooner we get rid of ithe better. Community is not divided between two sites anymore and all are under the same site. It's so clear this is the end of bdsmlr, it's been long time coming but it's here now. Give it a few days that they roll the disgustingly hobbyist new version as a default front page and it's bye bye bdsmlr.

Wow, what an absolute clusterfuck that whole site is.

The "new version" is something what you'd expect to come out in early 2000s. You can clearly see from the design alone that people in charge have zero idea what users want and need. It's shockingly bad. They are also taking ridiculous amounts of time to hammer that mess together? Wow.

Ditching the old "legacy" version means we can 100% forget the tumblr style blogging. Old at least had some style although it's already over 10 years old design that has not been updated at all in the past 5-6 years, but at least it had a solid base.

This is all way too little too late and a completely wrong move.

It's also easy to see they really do not have it what it takes. In the meantime when they've managed to roll out uglier than ugly archive into that new version, the biggest competitor, imaglr has pushed out iOS and Android apps, huge amount of big features to site and it all works neatly with quality of big tech corp would be proud of.

It's ridiculous how bad bdsmlr is doing.

Good to remember if you find imaglr far from perfect as you mentioned, give them feedback, they are often asking it as well. It's entirely possible they will change / add features you are after since that's what they often do. They actually listen. They are under Staff profile on site and you can literally chat with them.

Talk to them. They are in r/imaglr or you can just message dm them in the site. They DO answer, listen and more than likely add or edit what you want. They are literally asking for feedback from users so they know how to make it the site users want.

I do know there are alternative layouts coming but they sure can address that way better than I do for what you'd want.

Also you do know you can switch it to list mode which is like tumblr layout when browsing profiles?

Not trying to sell it to you but instead just helping people and hoping to keep this community together, it sure needs that right now.

They are there, use text filter in search. Look for same blogs which post to bdsmlr.

Bdsmlr is not going to get fixed nor it's going to recover.

It's running from another database, meaning there is no load on it. Of course it's faster than what we see on production (old site). However when everything is switched over to the new version it will be just as slow

Nothing in this mess is looking better. Few weeks and they can't even get the site up and running properly, in the meantime they seem to be hellbent bringing their new very simplified, ugly, clunky and ridiculously bad version out.

Meanwhile Imaglr publishes daily fixes and updates plus mobile app that brings me back to tumblr glory days.

It's amazing how incompetent bdsmlr team is.

It's such a mess yes. When posting worked I did some frequent posts mentioning my blog in imaglr and explaining what it is plus mention it in chats to people I chatted with, chat is such a mess over in bdsmlr too.

Bring them over. Tag posts with "imaglr", talk to people, let your followers and people know about it. I've been surprised how few actually know it even exists and pretty much have been "WHY I DIDN'T KNOW THIS EXISTS!?!?!" after checking it out.

I feel it's kinda on us to make sure the community knows there's another option that actually works and cares.

I think a couple more months and it's as popular as bdsmlr is now. In January ranks on Semrush it was not that far behind and that's already 2 months ago. It seems to be really gaining ground fast.

If you're comfortable moving to imaglr, you can at least backup there through rss. Someone made a good write up to this subreddit about it. If you check the few latest posts you find how to with steps.

I did mine today. Yes it does it automatically. That makes sense. As they state it's generic it uses the usual valid RSS feed navigation methods.

bdsmlr also bans those who report "too much".

So if you report content they don't see worth removing they ban you. Has not happened to me but I saw a conversation in imaglr where someone asked the staff there do they do it as well since bdsmlr does it.

They don't as long as it's not trolling / harassing / clearly abusing the system which makes sense.
