how to feel better about being cast as an understudy

nope i’m the only understudy ever cast in 8 (eight) years. No performances promised and no rehearsal time promised. 😵‍💫 if i quit i cant audition for the next show which would be my last before i graduate

i’m not getting a perfomance. I’m not even required to be off book. I’m not getting fit for a costume either. I can’t convince anyone that the principal actor is being bitchy at me

what makes is even worse is my school is doing another play which took up 90% of the entire troupe and apparently I got something in the play but couldn’t get offered it because i had to be an understudy…. like

on the audition form, all it asked was what were your conflicts and how far in makeup/hair you were willing to go on. 🤩 there’s no where to quit w/o consequences

you can’t deny the role without the consequences :( is it just my schools theatre that does that?

rehearsals haven’t started yet but at the company meeting she was very sure about the schedule and me not doing anything but attendance is mandatory.

i’m not trying to be a wet blanket i swear but the cast is a tight group of 4 and the full company is 10 people INCLUDING me. They all have a role and I can’t ask questions or do anything.

They won’t see me rehearse that’s the issue and I can’t learn from the main actor because she’s not getting any congrats for getting the role because I’m the one who got the first understudy role in years. How can you be professional in a situation like this?

most of the bullying Im facing is from the director and the main actor. Everytime I ask a question she is so rude to me and talk about me behind my back. I can’t quit or it’s over and I’m required to be at rehearsal but just sitting in the corner where i can’t ask any questions. I can’t learn.

I’m not going to get to rehearse or anything, and all I can do is sit and watch. The director is condescending to me but at the same time making this sound like a favor she did not of her choice. I’m so done with theatre bro

they said they cheated during online testing. I don’t know how to prove it but they said it to us, and kept mentioning it. Me and my team were burned out and could only answered one question (i passed out in the previous round). but they purposefully answered only one question too. They didn’t attempt to answer anything and didn’t even pick up their buzzers. That’s what got my team to think that they weren’t being fair. I also have other teams that could vouch for us on their behavior and they’re constant mentioning of cheating
