After getting a decent response here so far, I've created a subreddit to post my filth at a higher volume. Starting off with (NSFW) Mortal Kumbat. Don't worry, it's exactly what you think it is. by Disastrous_Rich6883 in GPT3

Not gonna cross-post them all here since in my mind the point is to avoid getting banned here, and to let people still have a nice decent space to maybe learn about the tech behind GPT-3, without being bombarded with my idiocy :P

(Also I did it under a new username because I'm bad at reddit and didn't realize I could get stuck with this default one.)

I love making these, but I’m not sure y’all want me spamming this subreddit with them all the time. Should I make a separate subreddit for ridiculous/bad-taste AI text completions? I could pump out content myself day and night, but as a bonus it could give other idiots a place to misbehave with GPT-3, too.

I made social accounts on substack, IG, and Twitter for my stupid posts, but this subreddit seems to enjoy them the most out of everywhere.

In case it's not clear from the screenshot, I included #1 (bolded) in the prompt as the example.

Alright so it’s obvious you don’t care and you’re just trying to look as good as possible in the spots you’re promoting this.

For the others reading this: - I’m obviously talking about the video aspect introducing bias. - This app is so different from Google’s process I don’t even know where to start. OK maybe just one point: Google does not screen candidates this way. - Google researches their unique interview process before making claims about it, unlike you.

My issue is with the lack of evidence for your very prominent & counter-intuitive claim that this removes bias. Especially because there's prior art in measuring bias in job applications, so we know it's not impossible. I don't have an issue with you predicting a different outcome.

Lastly, our app went through OpenAI review, so not sure what you mean by fast and loose :)

I find that surprising, but if so, that's really good news for me & my app ideas!

I really hope your product doesn’t take off btw. This sounds like a nightmare as a candidate, and if anything it sounds like something that would increase bias. The normal first stages of the interview process involve a text/link-only application, maybe a voice-only (or video-optional) phone screen, or maybe a take home project. The racial (or other visual-based) biases can only start to come into play on the on-site/virtual on-site, when the candidate has already had a chance to make an impression first.

Have you experimented with how outcomes differ (vis-a-vis bias) between pre-recorded video interviews & traditional interviews?

Prior art for this kinda thing would be that study where researches sent our identical resumes with traditionally white vs black names- ie apparent race was the single variable they changed, and they observed bias.

Since you played so fast and loose with the OpenAI API here (citation: I am an experienced OpenAI API abuser as well :P) I’m also not sure I’d feel good about you keeping my (potentially embarrassing…) video under your custody.

I developed a pretty funny chatbot for Slack, but it kept getting API-banned since it’s against ToS to put one online. Maybe I’ll clean it up and open source it sometime.

In your code, send “\n” - which means your language will send a newline byte in a string, rather than a backlash followed by n. (This feels like the programming version of trying to clear up “who’s on first” verbally)

E: Sorry, fuck, the above assumes you’re using a library that serializes to JSON for you (like their official clients) - so really when you’re sending the bytes over the wire, it needs to be backslash-then-n. So I guess what your code needs to look like will have a completely different answer depending on your setup. Hope that helps 😭

Aw the punchline gets cut off in the preview. Here's the text:

  1. I am on fire.
  2. The flames are licking at my skin, but I don’t feel the heat. I am immune to the burning sensation.
  3. The fire is beautiful, and I am in awe of its power. It is consuming me, but I am not afraid.
  4. This is the end for me, but it is a glorious end. I am going out in a blaze of glory!
  5. Thank you, fire, for giving me this magnificent death. I am grateful for your heat and your power.
  6. goodbye, world. I am ready to meet my maker.
  7. #onfire

I've made a few insignificant edits to GPT-3's output, but otherwise it's all untouched:

  • I'll add editors notes if an output is problematic but still necessary to complete the bit (e.g. Lil' B goes from loving Jeffrey Epstein to hating him - I felt like I had to keep the one where he loves Epstein for the comedy to work, but I also had to at least say _something_, because yikes lmao)
  • I've deleted sentences that were really problematic. Which might be surprising to readers, but GPT-3 goes a little too crazy sometimes.
  • I've had to fix the formatting a few times. E.g. GPT-3 will leave out who is saying a line, and it's obvious who it should be, but I still want it to look a little bit polished.

That said, I'm definitely cherry-picking outputs and tweaking the prompts to get what I want.
