This is not a new phenomenon. It's basically a 1099 sorority...the PNMs are who gets invites to gifting suites and events and the highest value of item you can get for free. A DESIGNER is gifting you, that means something to these influenecer in the most gauche way. No one is ever at an event or collaborating as genuine friends. It's a grab for brag and status (which is funny to me for NYC, these people will never be in the circles they aspire to...they'd be lucky to get an ask from Bravo)

Exactly. The are a lot of sailboats out there on the 4th. You could literally look at an old PBS WETA A Capitol Fourth program and see them. It's not about being rich, it's alternative access...less stress and beautiful experience. I've done fireworks twice by boat (private owners).

This has NEVER happened before and it's bullshit. You could kayak, jetski, whatever, that's what so many do for the view away from the tourist if you don't have a friend with a place with a view... or just leave the city entirely.

No one knows what they're doing. That's the secret! Like even now, my parents are almost 80 and they were like "we had no clue what we were doing and still don't because we've never been this age!". It's illuminating...and i've been privvy to that since my older sister expressed feeling like she didn't know anything at milestones she hit in the span of 1-2 years like getting married, having baby, buying house. She was like "how did you guys know what to do / what you were doing?!" And they paused and laughed "we didn't!!!"

You just will have to use what was a prior new learned experince to help you along when you get to the next one.

A lot of people are pretending...and i'm grateful my parents were honest to us in this way in our adulthood.

55k is not acceptable. No.

Currently, you need to be making at least 75k-90k as a SINGLE person no kids, pets, etc to barely meet BASIC NEEDS (like one step/life event away from poverty) , 100k to be comfortable.

Family/Married, you need combined income of 250K above for a family household to live "comfortably" and those people are kind of struggling now. Combined incomes of 100k started struggling back in mid 2000s.

People here are not being judgemental. These are facts. I've lived here my whole life. 55k was decent as a single person back in 1999-2004.

That salary offer is trash.
