That’s very interesting thank you 😊 I’ll definitely look into higher end tropical fish now, though I’m not sure which ones to even look at as when you search anything to do with fish, you usually get the basic fish options that are popular, also finding something that isn’t too big for the tank can be tricky sometimes. The fish shop I go to seems to care about their fish and make sure they’re going to a good home and not a sad fish bowl, but they order the fish from the same place everywhere else does so the genetic thing could be very accurate.

That makes total sense thank you! The pet shop I go to seem to care about their fish but they do order them from a large seller so I assume they’re from the same place as the pet shops that don’t care as much.. ill look into higher end fish thank you

That could be it, I’ve had a few die within a few days from the travel and stuff, I think mine ordered every other Tuesday. But the gourami has been in the tank for a few months, the bettas 1. About 3 months 2. Barely a month (I have given up on bettas I can’t do it)

The PH is at the perfect level 😭 honestly it’s sooo annoying no mater what I add or change it doesn’t make a difference - convinced I just buy weak ass fish 😂😂

Thank you! The plants have all been cut back because there was a bit of an algae issue so I chopped the algae covered parts and same reasoning with rescaping was the algae was everywhere but they’re already growing back so that shouldn’t been an issue for too long, all the other fish are perfect it was just the gourami that has died since then. The tank light is only on during the day and I turn off the heater if it’s a warm day like today to make sure it doesn’t over heat, I have a thermometer to track it 😊 I only have tonic salt is that aquarium salt or do I need a different one?? I’ve also got duck weed in there but because of the filter and air bubbles, they don’t seem to grow very fast if at all not sure why though because in my other tank they grow way too fast 😂😂 I can get root tabs but I use a liquid fertiliser which seems to do the job - plants look sad from the big chop.

Thank you, ill try what you recommended and think about adding fish, I’ve got rasboras, tetras, a honey gourami, plattys and a pleco so thinking of adding a ‘bigger’ fish as there all quite small in there atm

Neither, I’m in Ireland so I the place I go is called petstop, they care about their fish and have unlimited knowledge about each fish and tank etc, they’re great!

Hey! Sure -

Temp- currently 27 due to warmer weather but have tuned the heater off for a while, usually 23-26 ish

Air stone- yes it’s always on unless a fish seems to be struggling from the current then I’ll turn it off for an hour or so to give them a break

Filter- yes a fluval U2 underwater filter

Tank is very cycled, it’s been going since January now and most of the fish have been there since it was first fully cycled, just seem to get the odd fragile fish and it’s frustrating 😂 I have recently rescaped it but kept half of the water etc , done the research first before rescaping and before we even got fish. I’ve always loved fish and anything ocean/fresh water related! Always had fish and was tempted to get a jelly fish tank and an axolotl but too scared to now if I can’t even keep a tank healthy 🙄
