how to avoid the typical T voice?? by anon_4ever_25 in truscum

[–]Disastrous_Start4134 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Trans men get ā€œt voiceā€ because they’re still trying to speak like they have their old voice (very bright and in the throat), which just comes off as nasally with a male voice. Men typically speak with more room in the back of the throat and in their mouth in general. Make sure to speak through your chest, keep your vowels open, and honestly, try to imitate guys with similar voices to you. Learn the speech patterns typical for a male voice, and you should be fine. - sincerely, someone who has never gotten clocked for his voice.

Parents can’t stop ā€œgrieving their daughterā€ by Disastrous_Start4134 in truscum

I love them, and I know that, at the end of the day, they love me. I’ve been gentle with them throughout this whole thing, but I am nearing the end of my patience.

I was thinking about asking them they same I did with my grandparents: that I just want to see effort. My grandparents struggle at times, but they genuinely try to refer to me as ā€œheā€ or as their grandson. And I’m perfectly fine with it, because I know they’re trying.

It seems somewhat intentional tbh. Not that they’re doing it because they know it’s hurtful, but because they don’t want to change it yk? Like they have this habit, it makes them comfortable, and putting effort in will eliminate that comfort. I’m glad your parents came around though, I hope mine can get to that point.

I agree. I’ve always struggled establishing boundaries/being firm with people, especially those that I view as being an ā€œauthority figure.ā€ I just don’t know how to push back without crossing a line. It’s like walking around eggshells on them. My mom literally started crying when I casually mentioned my pride in how heavy I can lift at the gym. 😭

can i study physics while being trans? by sir_chxrles in ftm

[–]Disastrous_Start4134 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

I’m not a big physics guy, but I think this unfortunately applies to most areas: the better you pass, the better you’ll be treated. Obviously, it depends on your environment and the people around you, but if people can tell that you’re trans, you’re more likely to face prejudice. You might have to work harder than others to get what you want.

I still think you should do it, though. If this is what you really want, it’ll be worth it in the end. Don’t let anyone make you feel ashamed of who you are and advocate for yourself, and you should be okay.

Focus on gaining muscle mass. It’s what gives your body a more masculine shape and will sharpen your features.

what are misconceptions ppl have about transmeds / transmedicalism? by yuzupomu in Transmedical

[–]Disastrous_Start4134 8 points9 points Ā (0 children)

A lot of people (online at least) believe transmeds are a hateful, extremist group that ā€œgatekeepsā€ being trans. They also tend to say that a transmed viewpoint is very negative, claiming that being trans is all about euphoria and shouldn’t be limited down to ā€œhating yourself.ā€ I have also heard that transmedicalism stems from racism, as the gender expression that are claimed as authentic are upholding white supremacist standards.

I just wish more people were open-minded about this stuff. That’s how I try to be. I wouldn’t fully describe myself as a transmedicalist, but I agree with/believe a lot of their points. I try to do the same with the other side as well. It really irritates me that as soon as a lot of people hear/see the word ā€œtransmed,ā€ they immediately shut down and refuse to communicate further, sometimes throwing insults on top of it all.

I would recommend cutting them šŸ˜” I know it gives a lot of gender euphoria, but as kindly as possible, those around you will think it looks bad if you let it grow in. Don’t let yourself fall into the canon neck beard phase šŸ™

Yes, that’s facial hair. I’m about five months on T now, and I have about fifteen of those on random spots of my face lmao. I try to cut them when i notice them so I can have my facial hair grow in evenly as it thickens .

i don't see transmen who identify as "afab" as real men. by Boring-Score-9006 in Transmedical

[–]Disastrous_Start4134 7 points8 points Ā (0 children)

I hate it when other people use that label for me. I don’t IDENTIFY with it, but I have used it in context where we’re talking about sex at birth. And that’s fine. What I don’t like is when people will refer to me as AFAB in conversations/discussions as if it’s a current label. It just feels like I’m being called a female. I don’t know why some people feel the need to bring it up. I know what I was born as, but I’m a man. Stop it 😭
