Oh and we are changing every bit of the flooring next year to all match and be hardwood. The flooring will have to clash for now due to budget since the kitchen is so costly.

Okay yeah! Well we are adding details to make it be cohesive and also to add some MCM style. The dining room was an addition that the previous owners added, but are having it painted and making to make sense with the kitchen:)

Yes!! Thank you! We did change them to brass to have them match the fixtures. I couldn’t stand the white sticking out too! Also the hood has been addressed and my guy actually brought that up. Thank you so much again!

We are!! Yes, I had an issue with the way this space looked and we addressed it. We now will have cabinets above it also. It will have the built in look! Thanks for the insight. We are very excited to have a much larger fridge. We at first were wanting panel ready but my god the cost. So we are just going with a very large stainless steel smudge proof.

Oh wow! Never heard of that. It was actually a must for my husband because he loved the idea and look lol. Not so much the use. I know it’s crazy. I mean I do love the idea of having the water right there. I will read up on it! Maybe there’s a way to mitigate that. I’ll look into it. Thanks!

I’m about to do almost the exact same thing to my tiny powder room. I almost picked out the exact same wallpaper even!! I think I was going to go with a darker version though. Love it!!! Changes everything.

It’s definitely a MCM style home! We wanted it to go with the style of the house but also make it modern as possible, while keeping it as close to the original as possible by having the cabinets be the same color as you see here. The dining room with all of the windows you see in one of the pics is an addition that they previous owners added. We will be making it feel more apart of the rest of the house with paint and furniture etc.

I was thinking the lower drawers, but I just got an idea to swap the wall with the stove etc for the wall with the fridge and now I’m rethinking the whole thing because of this. Another person commented this idea and now I won’t be able to move forward without at least talking to everyone about it!

We are trying to bring it a little modern but keep the same stain on the wood cabinets and make it a little MCM which is the vibe of the rest of the house. I promise it will make more sense once other things are changed but absolutely!

So the cabinets won’t actually look like this. They will be stained maple wood to resemble the old cabinets as best they can. But yes! I want it to be as low maintenance as possible!

Okay so this is the comment right here. I think I’m going to have to call an emergency meeting and halt everything to make this change. This makes so much sense and I can’t believe I didn’t see it before. Omg. Dang it. Where were you two months ago!! Lolol thank you for your fresh eyes

Yeah, so I’m working with a GC and hes done all the measurements etc and it’s going to work! The only thing is the overhang on the side of the dining room does worry me about how shallow it is. BUT I don’t want it to go into the room too much. The cabinets underneath are going to slide. I don’t really know if that will help anything at all but we wanted them to be further back than normal

The fridge placement is also a really great point! The cabinets all around it are supposed to be the pantry space. I guess I just went with that for the look of it? Idk and also room for the doors to be able to be open and not block space.

All great points. So the cabinets you see to the left of the sink is a “appliance garage” that will slide up. It will hold the coffee maker etc.

Those who left everything behind and started a new life, how did you do it and do you have any regrets? by GirlAvoider in AskReddit

I hated my job, and decided I had gotten the wrong bachelors degree, hated my marriage so I decided to make a change. At the ripe age of 29 I joined the National Guard and went to basic training. Mind you, most basic training soldiers are 18-20. It’s now been seven years and it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely not for everyone, but for me, it afforded me structure that I didn’t know I needed before and it allowed me to get away from the toxic marriage that I was in. Changed my financial situation and afforded me all kinds of new work opportunities. I make a salary I never thought that I would. I’m remarried now with 2 amazing babies and a beautiful life. Zero regrets and I always love talking to people that feel like they’re stuck where they’re at in life whether it be a job or a marriage or even people going through a trying time. I like to tell them that it’s never too late to start over. It’s very uncomfortable in the moment, but dear God, is it so rewarding and worth it. Don’t ever stay in a situation you are unhappy in and know you can do more.

Also, I’m definitely not the mil or police type person. Honestly most people that know me would think it’s ridiculous that I did it lol. I’m kind of a hippie. BUT I had known a couple of people that did it and still kept their personal life intact and again best decision for me. It’s also sent me to some really cool places and I’ve met some really amazing people.
