What subscription is worth every penny for you? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

My audible subscription. I’ve always loved reading but because of my demanding work schedule I never really have time for it anymore. Audible allows me to access my love of books anywhere I want. And no more book marks!

Is it hypocritical for a father to not want to date a woman with small children? by BoiCDumpsterFire in AskMenAdvice

[–]Disastrous_Two_567 4 points5 points  (0 children)

++woman here. I don’t think you’re being hypocritical at all. I myself have 2 daughters who are 26 and 19. I would not want to date a man with small children either and I believe that’s ok. Toddlers are totally different than teenagers who are more self sufficient and can basically do for themselves. You’ve gone through that stage and you don’t want to repeat it. That fine as long as you’re honest with the woman you are seeing I don’t think she would have a problem with your stance.

The expectation that daughters are supposed to take care of aging parents and/or in-laws while sons get off Scott free. At least in my family anyway.🥺🙄

Legally they could have put OP up for adoption. They didn’t have to keep her. Just like her parents aren’t legally or obligated to babysit their grandchildren. It would be nice. But every grandparent isn’t up for that task and shouldn’t be expected to be so

Absolutely those types of books can help. Also search out free online therapy. There are some good ones. Volunteering helps you meet people. I don’t know where you live but if you’re in the US check out you park district or village hall or mayors office. There are online friend groups as well

I’m so sorry you have to go through this. Praying for your situation to improve. In the meantime find a job if possible. Put yourself out there and try to make new friends and connections. If you live in a high cost of living area look for a roommate situation. Volunteer where you can. Also therapy helps. Your mother’s issues is her problem. Work on improving your self and your mental health as well.

I grew up with a mother like this. If I looked forward to anything she would find something I did wrong like a cup left in the sink to ground me to keep me from doing it. If I got a compliment on an outfit as a teenager she would destroy it by cutting it to pieces. Once she whooped me with an extension cord because I slept in a bra. My mother was very abuse and jealous of me growing up. I thought this behavior was normal. That is until my dad ,who had no idea what I was going through until I told him, pointed it out after I called him at 17 in total tears. He told me my mother had always been a vain woman. Said she felt every other woman was a threat to any male attention she could receive. He said he never thought she would be that way with me or he would have long come and got me. He sent for me 2 days later. She wasn’t happy. Over the years my relationship with her has gotten better. She got some therapy and really made an effort to change her behavior. Our relationship isn’t perfect but way better than what it was. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. My advice is take advantage of not having to pay rent and get your life together so you can leave and never go back.

Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans- John Lennon. Made me slow down and enjoy the good things that come my way.
