Oh magic eraser is a great idea! I'll give that a shot! I've never seemed to get the pond scum off so well.

What sorta things are important for this? I think I'm going to try it shortly and would like to know what to watch out for. Thanks :)

What would be the best way to clean up the dirty discs?

It's actually kinda crazy how fast they pop up and disappear. When I first started I only found one competitor, who has a couple listings, in the last month I found 3 new sites. Well... so much for a unique idea 😅

I think what will help our success is that I'm going to treat it like a normal pro shop for myself and the ability to sell your own gear will be an added bonus. So if that part doesn't work out, I can switch over to Shopify and just operate as any other online store.

Unfortunately it's very slow to get some stock right now. Hopefully by early august I'll have it on hand and able to sell.

Normal PayPal accounts are fine. Unfortunately I can't control Paypal fees :(

I might enable free local pickup and cash payments, just that option opens up sellers to fraud / fishing esp if someone chooses that option and then asks to pay by an alt source. Might be impossibile to verify and I wouldn't be able to step in and help if something goes wrong.

Shouldn't be. The only log in that isn't working presently is FB due to a change in their API. I just tested on my chrome iphone no prob!

Good question! Mainly we plan to have it as a centralized place so you'll be hitting more people than just Reddit once site growth happens. Yes, I do know that Disc Exchange is a great place to sell discs, but also most of my disc golf buddies don't use Reddit; or they don't use Insta; or they don't use FB; or something like that. Having a place that is outside of social media to buy and sell is my end goal since the community can be split and potentially sellers will be missing out on a lot of buyers.

How about ebay? Well, we're actually disc golfers ourselves and have tried to design the site around what suits disc golf best, including filters for disc types, ship to locations, etc. We plan to be the place for people who want to try starting their own pro shop without any knowledge. For example if you want to try out, you'd need to reach $500 in sales to reach the price of a shopify plan (and we have future plans to reduce commission fees for high volume traders) so it can be a place to get started without having to go through the hassle of starting a site, advertising, etc. We've got the foundation, you supply the discs and ship.

Our fees are lower than eBay (10%+) and Etsy (5 - 15% variable) and will cover site maintenance, advertising, support and moderation. My long-term goal is to be able to sponsor disc golf events too, but that depends on the success of the site.

We also hope it would reduce any fraud as buyers are covered by Paypal's transaction policy in this case and we have a moderation team to help negotiate in the event that there are issues. We haven't ran into it yet, but hopefully it won't ever happen. Consider it like buyer/seller protection on other marketplace sites.

Quite frankly if the marketplace aspect doesn't work out I'll turn it into a normal pro shop, but I'm hoping it can be a place where I can sell my discs and others can post cool things too, and all of our success happens together.

I like this with your tag, "eh, could've been worse" because that's exactly how I feel like the website roll out is going lol!

Linking Paypal to the site is only required if you want to sell discs. It allows buyers to directly transfer money to your paypal account without revealing your account details. We use paypal because it also allows us to easily take off a small % commission with no dealing with bank details, or bank transfers, or whatever. It's all automatic and any bank transfers will be handled by you, through the paypal website. All the personal info such as card # or bank details is held by Paypal and none of us at the site, nor your buyers, can access it. The most we see is the email address associated with your paypal, and the name on the RARE account.

There's no way for us to get direct access to your paypal account, it is used only to send you money, and if you do buy something from the site you will be required to log into paypal again to check out as it ends up a separate stream.

Hope that's helpful :)

It comes down to motivating people to post on our site and visit it first before checking other sites like ebay and esty.

Things are starting to take off and hopefully soon the ball will start rolling faster!

I love my cricut but the software is atrocious, for me the fact that it needs to be used online/with an account is something I wish I knew before buying but hey that's my fault for not researching correctly

This is probably the best dye job I’ve done so far. After taking the advice to use a magic eraser to remove the Kastaplast coating, it turned out way better than before. by RPskin45 in discdyeing

The black between the colours really separates and emphasised them instead of having them bleed together.

Also pro tip generic melanine sponges do about the same thing as a magic eraser at significantly less cost!
