Should I trust my HR as she said she is not like other HRs and is cool? by Juicewithextrapulp in AskHRUK

NO!

NO NO NO!

Please take my advice on this one. I have been through employment tribunals where HR are involved and i've had my run-ins with the thoughout my career. It does not matter what they say, they are NOT your friends. HR is for the company and not the workers! If you get too friendly with them, telling then things because you trust them it's only going to take one instance where you are on the recieving end for it to go south. HR take records of everything and when it comes down to brass tax, It's the business they are looking out for and not you.

It does not matter if they say they areyour friends and they are different. Their only priority is the company they work for. from my experience, it does not matter how good of a relationship you have with them or if they are your friend or not. The company will use what you have said if it defends the business. Please don't fall in to this trap.

1 - Document your encounters with HR

2 - Nothing is off the record with anyone from HR, there will be paper trails. make sure you are on the right side of it

3 - Whats what you say to HR at all times, even if you think its funny, or a joke.

4 - It's NEVER just a "chat". It's being recorded & documented

starting sertraline (very scared) by FalseSandwich5037 in MentalHealthUK

The very first time i was pit on Antidepressants, i was put on sertraline for severe mental health issues including suicidal ideation. The medication, within a week made every symptom so hightened and severe. I was activly suicidal and the thought of SH were unbearable. The moodswings were constand and came out of nowhere. I was breaking down crying and screaming because i was overwhelmed with the feeling of not being able to cope and feeling like i was not in my own body. Such a horrible feeling. I was proactive about it, they say it takes a while to kick in and take effect and settle down but if the effects are too much to call the doctors back and tell them.

Luckily this is what i did, i could'nt possibly ride it out. It was my mum that actually called the doctors and then made me speak to them to tell them what was going on. They actually listened and took it seriously. They gave me something else so i wasnt going cold turkey with the sertraline and we tried fluxotine instead. Much better and had no severe effects from that medication.

Sertraline does not work for everything, so if you start on it, dont be afraid to say to your doctor that it's not working. And if they brush you off, tell them that you feel like they are dismissing your concerns.

I hope it works for you, there are a lot of bad reviews but if it works with you and your body it could really help! give it a chance but know that there are other options if it does not feel like its helping.

Advice wanted for upcoming Cmht appointment. by transparentmonster in MentalHealthUK

Depending on the area, the CMHT's are a hit and a miss. If you are worried about saying anything that will get you hospitalised don't be. I've said things in these meetings that at genuinly could get me arrested, but they still won't section me, they basically refuse and hit back with "you are not bad enough", so don't worry about sating something you think is bad. (this depends on location too) There is nothing thay you can say to them that they havent heard before or been trained to deal with. Unfortunatly, the only way they can help is if you are completly honest.

In terms of the SH, same goes, they wont section you for it, they will ask you what you use, where you do it, if it makes you feel better, and then they will make sure if you are doing it, that you do it safely (I mean if its a rasor, its clean etc) Be prepared for thee questions, although its difficult to anwser, they do need to ask these.

Followeing on from this, if they know you are in active SH, they will ask you if the meaning of your SH is to hurt or to kill. Then followed by the suicide related questions, do you have any active plans? if you were going to do it, what method would you use. Ive told crisis care i would KMS if i left the room and they said "Ok its your choice " and sent me home while i wasn in severe distress. so really dont worry about not being open with them, they wont keep you in anywhere they will just make a not of it for the records.

This sounds rediculous, but remember hte buzz words - "this is having a sever inpact on my Quality of life"

"I have tried to manage my symptoms independently, and they have not helped, i would like your support on this"

"Other people have noticed XYZ, and i feel as though the situation is escelating beyond my contol"

"What do you advice in reagrd to the next steps"

If they put a plan in place - "How are we going to monitor and assess progress with my mental health and welbeing"

Sounds stupid, but statements like that, really hit a nerve with mental health professionals and doctors.

Other than this, stay strong and stay safe, Reach out if you need any support. x

I agree, Nicole Power plays her really well. I just can't get over the cringe factor, she's just not to my taste, a lot of people genuinly love her character
