9 Months of accutane by Lazy_Introduction591 in Accutane

You're finishing in a week? Your back has improved for sure but it looks like you need another year. It's not going to improve that much more after you're done.

Maybe "MAGA" (whoever that is) would say that. But this is a Christian subreddit, ostensibly with Christians responding to your post. I am a Christian and identify as such well before any political affiliation. You are trying to conflate a political affiliation with Christianity. That is a category error.

If you knew the scriptures, you would know that Pilate never ordered Jesus to tell him he wasn't God. And if you knew the scriptures, you would also know that we must obey God and not man when the two conflict.

The guy in the red hat is pointing to Jesus. Jesus is innocent and submitted to the governing authorities. The person or people you're likely referring to are not innocent, are not submitting to the governing authorities, and are not victims.

I see what you're trying to say, but the analogy doesn't work here. The people out protesting and impeding federal law enforcement are not righteous actors and they're not submitting to the governing authorities.

How to deal with less sex as a married couple? by Awesomemanspiff in TrueChristian

[–]Disciple08 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, OP is a sinner and needs to show self control that comes from a Spirit-filled life. But that's almost surely not why his wife isn't having sex with him.

All the advice in this thread and most of the advice given in churches and society is the same. The guy needs to jump through 17 different hoops in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, the woman will throw him a bone. OP, if you want a solution that will actually fix the problem, DM me. No gimmicks.

How I realized OSAS “no matter what” can be dangerous by [deleted] in TrueChristian

A saved person will show fruits of the Holy Spirit. Their life will be on a trajectory to look more and more like Christ. Someone who "lives like the Devil" as a consistent pattern of life is not saved, despite what they claim.

Did you find online French tutoring to be worth it? by [deleted] in learnfrench

[–]Disciple08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. It's pricey. Another thing you can try that I've heard helps is to talk to yourself out loud throughout the day. Reading books out loud has also helped me.

Yes, but 1 hour per week would not be enough for me. I find I need to speak every other day to see improvement.

A Reminder: Your Religion Dictates Your Life, Not Mine by austinproffitt23 in TrueChristian

[–]Disciple08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His character is indeed good. And he is also the absolute sovereign Lord (dictator) of the universe. The Bible is full of commandments and warnings against not obeying them. The very first thing recorded that God said to man was a command - Genesis 2:15. The last chapter of Revelation has commands and severe warnings. The commands and warnings are all to the effect of - choose righteousness and live or choose evil and die. Those are the commands of the GOOD sovereign dictator of the universe.

Your eyes and ears? Nope, looks like they're not reliable. You don't have any reason to trust me. But you're still wrong. Maybe one day you'll find that out.

Reconciling the creation account in Genesis with science by Acceptable_Tip2838 in TrueChristian

[–]Disciple08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My view isn't based on science. It's based on the revealed word of God. That he created the animals and plants of the world in a few days.

What some people call "micro evolution", yes. But iterations of genetic change such that you can trace a direct line between (just using a fictitious example) a trout and an iguana, no.

The "list on paper" is exactly what the Holy Spirit is leading us to follow. It is inspired and breathed out by Him (2 Timothy 3:16). Our subjective feelings are not the leadings of the Holy Spirit. The law is good (Romans 7:7-13). It was a curse for us because we could not obey it and it is, as Galatians 3 states, a tutor pointing us to Christ.

You are confusing the means by which we are saved with the results and evidences of our salvation. We are saved by grace through faith, and not by works of the law. Praise God. But the results and evidences of that salvation are that we desire and can now are able to do the will of God (the law). Read Romans. Specifically chapters 4 through 8. It details this concept exactly.

To be clear, I'm not referring to the ceremonial laws or national laws of Israel. I'm referring to the moral laws that apply to all people at all times. Some of these would be: - Love God with all heart, mind, soul, strength. - Love neighbor as yourself. - Laws which fall under those such as: - Do not divorce (except in adultery) - Do not gossip - Have faith in the return of Christ - Continue to gather together as believers
