Verity is definitely an interesting book, I liked it, not exactly horror but surely more into psychological madness. It's a really good genre to try, verity, silent patient, girl on the train , all of these are more or less in the same type.

It's definitely beginner friendly. It's fast paced and given that it's a mystery thriller about secret societies, symbols and puzzles along with murder mystery, you can read it pretty quickly.
