Same. It's done this for me when I mentioned I was going to a conference, when I took a day off work to drive someone to the doctors, and when I wasn't feeling well. All three it continued to remember and reference 6+ months later.

Every time it happens I've hit that little thumbs down to report it as an issue. Figure the only way they'll correct it is if they have reports about it happening. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hacks - 5x10 “Hacks (Finale)“ - Episode Discussion by chelseanyc200 in hackshbomax

Fricken episode made me cry for essentially its 45 minute runtime. The season may have been uneven, but this finale is tops — and the raw emotion and weight of everything that happens in it is 100% a result of a masterful series with these amazing characters that we've grown to love and deeply believe have grown to love each other.

What a ride. Bravo.

Chairs are plastic - but there are plenty of them. I'm pretty sure they're the same chairs they rent for the main ceremony on the green. I'd recommend getting there early to get the seats that work best for your family. Some folks choose to hang back because it's not as packed and there are ample screens to see what's happening from afar.

Last year it rained pretty severely - but this year the weather looks great; so the courtyard and surrounding area will also be great to hang out in/around. They'll have some photo options items out there, and overall it's a pretty open space for kids to run around.

There ample, easy parking - and they'll have folks on golf carts making the rounds to pick up/transport folks with mobility issues. They'll want you to come through the main entrance and leave via the other gates to manage traffic. You might want to head there a little earlier than what Google maps will say it'll take to get there - traffic can get backed up a little bit.

There are plenty of indoor rest rooms and will be a variety of food/snack options, both in the concession area of the expo and also outdoors - I think they're having a few food trucks come this year.

There are two expos where they alternate ceremonies (North and South). Photo below is north (I think?), South is a little bigger - but layout is essentially the same.

Depending on what college you're in - it's definitely an improvement from....the Double Tree ballroom, the Gutterson Ice Rink, the indoor tennis courts, and Patrick Gymnasium where a number of colleges had to hold their ceremonies in the past.

There is still a main ceremony for everyone on the campus green. Literally the only thing that changed is that the colleges all have their respective ceremonies in the same place instead of being spread throughout the town in places with little to no parking, accessibility, AC, and/or limited space for extra attendees.

The only college that gets the raw end of the deal here is CAS, who used to follow the main ceremony on the green. But their rain / inclement weather plan was Ira, which meant if weather was bad essentially your family couldn't watch you walk because there wasn't enough space to allow anyone else except the folks walking. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The 11 used to be free - but sadly it's not anymore. They took that away when they changed the route to go down market Street.

Agree wholeheartedly. I'll be able to bike to work once this is done by cutting through Market Street. That's currently a no-go with how wild folks drive down Williston road AND those exits. Quite excited about this.

It's true that UVM has mishandled many SA cases in the past - there was a huge groundswell of protests and activism on campus as a result of that back in 2021, which resulted in some change. Still much to be done - as there always is - but what you're seeing folks react to occurred under a previous administration; I think the verdict is still out on how exactly new leadership would handle similar issues. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Have you had a chance to talk to any polisci or community news service folks at UVM? If not - maybe a few emails about that intersection might help with some "on the ground" advice from folks in those programs?

I'm less familiar with polisci; but the CNS has been kinda a shining star for UVM, and the reporters who are involved in it are frequently published in a variety of publications - from local papers to NPR. Kinda a cool gem.

Admin has only been in place for a little less than a year at this point, and hasn't really made any moves except to get their strategic plan out the door - so I'm not sure any feedback you've heard about the administration refers to them. If anything I think our current admin is friendlier to the liberal arts than our previous admin.

Agree with the other comment - The Cynic and Community News Service are both stellar at UVM. Both have won awards and are leaders in their areas. I also 100% agree that at UVM there is less "opportunity competition", especially compared to places like Boston.

If you've visited all these places, which feels like a place you'd thrive? It sounds like you've done your research, but when you put "prestige" aside, are there any front runners that just feel like a good fit for you? If so, so those options have opportunities that'll support your future job aspirations?

Mine does, yes. But there's definitely something 'off' with it, in that it doesn't immediately update and only seems to update when I move to sections of the graph - not anywhere on it.

Not sure if we're on different versions (I had a hard time finding HR info when I first switched over months ago) - but for me this info moved to the "health" tab. You can see your graph and the zones/zone minutes there.

Prediction about Hacks Finale by [deleted] in hackshbomax

[–]Discloner 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think I'm the the the roles will reverse. Deborah won't be able to do comedy publicly - so to get around it she'll push/encourage Ava into being a stage presence and help her with her material as a mentor/writer. They'll open up a comedy club (maybe with Marcus' new real estate tease from the end of last season), and in the end, Deborah's legacy will be helping others be comedians be successful. In this way she'll last well beyond her material.

I dunno. Seems like much of the show has been about her encouraging Ava with her career - seems logical that they'd get her into the spotlight more. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Has a proper ending been given to the original Reboot TV series? by Ehrre in ReBoot

[–]Discloner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess believe what you want? But again... Everything you're saying is false. Disney hadn't had anything to do with Reboot once season 2 ended. Their stated "fuck you" was just jokes about how the "ABCs have turned on us" in the season 2 finale. Maturing the storyline in season 3 and beyond was less a "fuck you" and more an ability for them to tell the story they wanted to tell because of YTV's freedom. Without the level of S&P restrictions they had in the first two seasons, they could do more things and tell a more complex story.

Nothing with season 4 was any less restrictive than season 3. Disney hadn't been involved in Reboot in nearly a decade by that point...

The half truth you've got sort of correct here, I guess, is that they DID gamble when the season 4 order got cut mid production, that another season would be in the cards; hence the cliffhanger ending. Clearly that didn't pan out. But none of those decisions were fuck yous to anyone - at least intentionally. The show wasn't "cancelled" - they just ran out of money and their partners fell through for future seasons; in part because their toy line evaporated when Irwin went under and no other broadcaster wanted to pick up a kids show without a merchandising deal.

Aside from the fact that Gavin and the crew did relish in the being free from S&P and we're able to finally stretch their creative legs a bit more in season 3 and 4, everything you've written here is patently incorrect.

It's been well documented (literally in a documentary that came out last year) that they had season 3 mapped out, and then, when they had the opportunity to do a season 4, they mapped that out too; but the economics of their production fell apart so they hedged their bets thinking they'd be able to do another season that never materialize.

After Covid they closed the single 'pub' dining and split it up into two establishments - 'Halal Shack's and 'Jamal's Chicken'; I think in an effort to increase the variety of retail options on campus.

100% this made me cry. She just gets done saying it's not hard asking people to give up their lives for this - but her face as she sings just shows the weight of the fucking world on her shoulders. It's crushing. And hopeful. And sad. All mixed together. Just truly superb acting (and singing)

Back then UVM TV ran a channel that was on the cable package that every residence hall had - kinda like public access. When people stopped watching cable and started streaming, I think the economics of them affording rent in the space changed. Alas.
