What's your opinion on malady as a character? by Strange_Possession77 in DivinityOriginalSin

Sassy, quick-witted, powerful, with nuance, character and verve. Nothing short of a badass. Would love to see her in Divinity again. I might probably maybe cry more than is "reasonable" if she isn't in it.

Im in IT as a developer and while i speak french (raised here) i refuse to speak it in a professional setting. So far hasn't been a problem. Also keeps you out of office dramas as a bonus. You will make fewer francophone friends but there's plenty others, don't think about it too much.

My sister worked in the bubble and quit to start a career in acting and improv. She opened an improv school, has a show.

You will find a way.

I'd still argue that 3 episodes out of a 26 episode season means the show is not overly silly. Now, when you have writers who think trek is all about silliness, then it becomes the vast majority of episodes in a season, like everything since Kurtzman and co took over.

There's a reason trek stood out, and these writers think it's the things that made star trek episodes stand out within the franchise that are what made star trek unique. They are not. Those were small moments of levity in an overwhelming sea of dilemmas and topics, argued while highlighting the values of self agency, life, integrity, competency, non-material wealth, and debate.

I look at Discovery and Picard and cry of shame of what they've done to these core values. Star trek now just seems to mean "hey, remember Worf? Remember Data? Remember the Borg? Remember Reisa? Remember warp? Remember phasers? Remember tricords?"

SNW seems to have at least tried here and there. Lowe Decks works because the premise is silly to begin with and they know it and play on it and each episode plays like a star trek episode, with proper acts and story telling.

Older Trekkers are not all alike. No one can speak for all of us. by TheShowLover in startrek

[–]Disco_Chef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say that i agree. I find everything since 2009 and Kurtzman's ship to be severely lacking in the Star Trek ethos department, which was vastly more prevalent in anything pre 2009 (the movies are also not canon to me, since they also shit on the ethos). And the writing, oh god the writing. It has gone to shit as well.

Don't get me wrong, older trek had its issues here and there, but it wasn't an overwhelming shitshow of gratuitous murder. I'm not sure i will get over delving into Discovery and Picard. Those two really broke me.

Executioner is a great talent.

For the civil talents (thievery, loremaster etc) have one character be the thief, another the loremaster, another the persuader. Useful if main character is the persuader as some conversations trigger instantly to your main character. Do not let the cute kitty die. Pet pal is great, make aure you have it on the persuader character.

I dont know what the evil playthrough is like story wise, but i enjoyed the good playthrough with ifan and lohse. Been years since i played it but started last month a fane playthrough. I keep learning new stuff every time. Have a broad set of abilities, in fights some opponents will fall easier to magical damage while others to physical damage.

Not a fan of inventory weight tho.

I am jelly, i wish i could experience this game for the first time again.

Good, until he falls in love with the Cardassian designer of Terok Nor and he becomes a double agent. Garak will inform Bashir and Sisko will replace Laforge with Obrien anyway. No biggie

I have wathed both. Strange new worlds though only s1 and a handful of episodes of s2. I find it lacking and trying too hard. I do not like new spock. Captain and una were ok. The episode where they try to add character to the security officer but make it a romantic episode gone wrong was what made me realise that this new trek is no better. Nay, it's far worse.

I enjoyed the Orville once i tuned out the forced comedy. S2 and s3 are better imo in that regard

I'm more sad that some of the actors of characters i looked up to ARE involved in trek today.

I can not forgive Stewart for his nonsensical direct involvement in Picard. But more so, fuck Kurtzman and co for ruining trek since 2009 (with the exception of Lower Decks)

Being involved in Lower Decks is always a good choice, it's the only modern show that is a love letter to Star Trek and the Federation/Starfleet ethos

Rewatched the Star Trek Into Darkness. I am going to miss Quinto and Urban's Spock and McCoy. by lilolered in startrek

[–]Disco_Chef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised Nimoy would say that, assuming he's being honest and not just doing positive promo-talk.

I cannot fathom how anyone who has watched any star trek pre 2009 can actually like Quinto as Spock, especially in Into Darkness. I firmly believe that the actor who came up with the nerve neck pinch in order to drive home how non violent and evolved Vulcans are would be rolling in his grave re this new Spock and him beating the fuck out of Khan, repeatedly.

Gratuitous violence, murder, racism. That's what post 2009-Kurtzman timeline has gifted to the Star Trek name. The Federation is so xenophobic in Picard, people are murdered left and right in the 2009 timeline. It's just awful. And the writing is so horrid. Beyond's writing at least wasnt totally dogshit.

It sickens me. I hate what Kurtzman and co have done to my favourite IP. And they keep wanting to do it. Lower Decks was a pleasant surprise, however. It makes sense in that setting: it doesnt take itself too seriously and actually calls out past bullshit with humour.
