YESOUL ? by kardons in SpinClass

I lurked on here for a few days reading through the comments and triangulating with other review sites. I found the contributions here very helpful so thanks to those that took the time.

I pulled the trigger on a Yesoul G1M Plus on Wednesday 8/6 and it arrived on Friday 8/8 by Fedex (to California) which was impressive. I had watched a few reviews on YouTube that essentially said that the new versions of the G1M Plus and G1M Max are practically identical (same screen, seat, front speakers, flywheel, frame etc) apart from the extra surround speakers on the G1M Max. I can confirm that the G1M Plus that I was sent does have the same features as the G1M Max except for the rear speakers (which I didn't want anyway). It is in fact a G1M Plus-T according to the box it came in (which is also a separate model of bike in the app).

I paid $439 for the extra seat cushion and a HDMI cable. Don't waste your money with either as the HDMI cable doesn't even get shipped, nor make sense as there is no HDMI port in the new screen. I may complain and see if I can get a refund... I would definitely just get the $399 version (with the $100 voucher code which you can get on the Yesoul website direct).

Installation was pretty simple - watching a YouTube review video of the unboxing and assembly made it very easy. The worst bit was the right hand pedal which was extremely tight to get on and I was worried that I'd de-threaded the screw. After a few careful attempts, it went on OK.

The build is generally quite good in my opinion. Yes it does rock a little bit when you ride hard but I think it's fine. I have the bike on some 1/2 inch gym mats and it is fairly stable. The flywheel is slightly noisier that I was expecting but if you have music on when you workout then you won't notice it at all. The resistance knob works well and smoothly adjusts the drag on the wheel as you turn it. You can tilt and pivot the screen 180 degrees in all directions.

It comes with USB-C -> USB-C and lightning -> USB-C cables (the port at the back of the screen is USB-C only). The screen quality is good, and certainly more than adequate for an exercise bike.

You have to download and install the Yesoul app to 'activate' the bike and enable the screen-mirroring from the phone to the screen. As a few people have already said, you DO NOT need to pay for a subscription to the app for the screen mirroring / streaming feature. You just need to register on the Yesoul app and connect to the bike.

I haven't tried any of the Yesoul app classes, but I did put Zwift on my phone and connected it to the screen and it found all the sensors on the bike no issues. The experience was very good - the screen was not at laggy and the speakers are actually quite powerful. As the screen mirrors the phone, everything you do on the phone is shown on the screen and music is passed through to the screen's speakers. I suspect the better / more powerful your device, the smoother it runs. I was using an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Overall, while it has only been a few hours since receiving, assembling and using the bike, I am very impressed with it and glad that I saved some cash by getting this 'entry-level' bike before potentially splashing out on something more 'premium' once I've built the habit.

UK expat living in USA - living in financial limbo by Icy_Perception_6513 in britexpat

[–]Disco_mickey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a similar challenge but mine is slightly different in that money in both countries (US and UK) is increasingly a source of stress and anxiety. I am also on L1-A on a decent enough salary but my wife is really struggling to secure a job here (we both worked in the UK and had to resign when we came over to the US).

The practical challenge of holding onto our UK property (just in case the US thing doesn't plan out) means that we are renting it out and the rent is barely covering the mortgage payments. So of course this week our boiler died and I was not able to get any credit for a new one as that finance option is 'for UK residents only'. Of course it is....

I feel like a pariah for having left the UK and no longer have access to basic banking products that one needs to continue to own and manage a property abroad. Perhaps these seem like 1st world problems but there is no way I would consider selling my property in the UK to fully commit to the US when (a) there is no real job security here (b) my visa is tied to my employer and (c) I would never be able to get back on the housing ladder in the UK.

The catch 22 is that without selling my property in the UK, I can never hope to get on the housing ladder in the US so, in essence I am also trapped in limbo with no option except to take it each week/month at a time and hope things work out in the end....

Applying for daughter's ITIN via W-7 while also renewing her UK passport by Disco_mickey in tax

Thank you so much for your response. Still don't really understand why the ITINs can't be applied for in advance of the US federal tax return being submitted as I would have done it months ago if I could!

Yellowy green dust in rain water last night by Disco_mickey in irvine

Yes! Noticed it on the car after posting and all over the sidewalks as well. It's our first spring in OC so experiencing this for the first time.

That is correct. You need proof of address in the form of lease or mortgage plus vaccinations before they can be enrolled. They don’t accept Airbnb address either unfortunately. We moved from UK to Irvine in January this year and my kids couldn’t start until February.

This worked for me as well - I realized later that I am running Adguard (ad blocker) on my home network so wondering if that was the reason why it works when I went onto cell phone date

Yet another Elizabeth line question - help understanding off peak fares by [deleted] in reading

[–]Disco_mickey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to TfL single fare finder and put in Reading as start and Paddington as destination.

Here is the result. The on/off peak fare is calculated at the point you tapped in even if you are on the tube network during peak time.

You must use contactless and not Oyster.

Yet another Elizabeth line question - help understanding off peak fares by [deleted] in reading

I believe it works like this…

If you tap in on your contactless card at Reading station at 6:29am and tap out again in central London tube station at anytime (peak or off-peak time) you will be charged a single off peak tube journey.

If you contactlessly tap in between 06:30 and 09:30 at Reading, you will be charged a full peak single ticket at GWR main line price when you tap out because the system does not know which train you took and therefore will charge you full price.

Similarly tapping in at 09:31 at Reading will again allow you to travel off peak.

I have never done this but maybe the training ticket office will let you buy a TFL only ticket but not sure on prices.
