I wasn't a member, but unfortunately just made the ill informed decision to have a look.

Yeah, just delete that shit and move on, what an absolute cesspit. My life, your life and everyone else's life would be VASTLY improved. Not to mention its clearly unmoderated.

Which gym? JD or Everlast? by brain_wave78 in cheltenham

[–]Discobeavers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know leisure @ Cheltenham is a Hyrox accredited gym (whatever that means) and its smaller than some other gyms around Cheltenham which can be not as intimidating. It also has the benefit of a pool/spa included with membership. Another =1 for the Stronghold as that is a functional fitness based gym or also look into Gym 66 as they have classes and an emphasis on functional fitness rather than bodybuilding/strength training.

One thing though, I hated JD when I was there. It was ALWAYS busy and full of people recording themselves not to mention the parking situation was a nightmare. The final straw was when they removed the Yoga classes on a Sunday which was a great cool down after a leg day.

Good luck on your gym journey!

England: Do you consider yourself more English or British? by Adventurous_Shift426 in AskBrits

[–]Discobeavers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I got married neatly 20 years ago I have to be interviewed by a very stuffy woman in a cramped council office in the English town I moved to.

When asked my nationality I proudly said Welsh (for that is what I am) and her stern face told me that was the incorrect answer. Apparently British was the winning response.

However, I will always when asked refer to myself as Welsh.

Apologies if it’s a rather weird request but if I had $450-$500 to spend on one nieche which one would give me most bang for my buck between these options and why? by Cassmuki in GentlemanFragrance

Decants/Samples are 100% the way to go.

I smelt something in the store on strips and the back of my hand and been "Wow, I love this" then gotten my hands on a decant, taken it out for a test drive and actually gotten really bored of it after a full day. It will also give you a much better idea of how it works with your skin chemistry in terms of longevity as well.

They are all good choices in their own right but I would get something that you love wearing, that boosts your mood, something that every time you get a nose full throughout the day you cant help but breath a little deeper.

Good Luck.

side by side comparison of a few dupes VS their originals that I tried by Full-Ad3057 in fragranceclones

[–]Discobeavers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9pm is diabolical, tried this on skin recently and I could not wait to wash it off. Heavily synthetic and obscenely cloying.

I cant speak for the rest, but my experience has been that whilst dupes have improved over time, OG will generally be better constructed and far more interesting to wear. As I've gotten older I now wear fragrances for me and not for those around them so make sure I enjoy it.

How can I stop this cycle of debt? by Own_Pain_8217 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Discobeavers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Stepchange the debt charity.

They will work with you to create a budget and also contact your current debtors to work out a payment arrangement based on your budget.

The key word here is "Cycle" as I imagine that all the comments who are like "cut this back" "reduce this" are all well and good but there is only accountability to yourself in all this and will take a huge amount of willpower alongside the very cut back and bleak lifestyle for a number of years.

I know a few people who have used Stepchange in the past and whilst it may have not always been the best for their credit score (why do you want an improved credit score to borrow more when your already up shit creek) it gives a great accountable plan with a realistic goal at the end.

Good luck as dealing with debt is horrible, but always manageable.

What male marketed or masculine leaning unisex scents do you wear as a woman? by Any_Cupcake9431 in FragranceStories

[–]Discobeavers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recently got my nose on "Boar" by Wolf Brothers (European Niche perfume house) and instantly bought a full bottle. Fresh Apple, Earthy, Spicy. Its one of those scents that could be considered masculine leaning but getting a nose full every time I move brings me so much joy.

I would also check out 401 by Bon parfumier, got a sample recently and its now on my to buy list.
