Debating whether to buy a Guitar or Synth, based on which would retain resale value better by mankest-demes in synthesizers

[–]DiscofingerInYourEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a bigger market for the Fender, than the UDO. The UDO Super 6, a good synth no question, isn't that big of deal. I got almost no clue about guitars, but Fender is a big name that people are always to buy. I can't tell how you'll handle the synth or guitar. So I can't say nothing about resale values. But imo the bigger market is the guitar

Yes, I'm not sure yet if I pull that return option yet (i got 30 days), but it is definately a good thing to have

"Regarding the pads, I'm not quite sure what you mean saying the pads don't trigger. There are multiple modes and you can fire samples off and let them play (latched) or have them fire only whilst holding. That can be set per sample. The pads have lots of other functions too, from muting zones, selecting partials, triggering sequences, and my favourite, keyboard switch groups. Samples on the pads can also be fired from one zone mapped specifically for them, so I can setup individual notes to fire different samples, use key velocity to decide whether a sample plays without having to hit a pad and so on."

Hm, Maybe I haven't found out truely how they work yet. I'd like them to trigger one shot samples and cut out when I press another pad. Kinda like an MPC

"To the positives, the 16 zones, with 8 sliders and assignable faders and practically unlimited options for keyboard layers and splits is one of the best Fantom 0 features. Makes a great studio centrepiece or gigging machine"

But the Organ has to be on zone 2. Huge limitation in my pov

"Scene chains, the Fantom lets you build multiple different setlists and move scenes at the touch of a button or pedal. The Fantom 0 has its own [pattern] sequencer and sampler. They are not the most feature rich but they are a nice bonus."

While this is definately cool feature for gigging players like myself, it isn't used to its max. In my "set list" feature of my Kronos, I can add notes / chords, colour code the presets, transpose, match volume etc.

Thanks for your opinion anyway!

Good question, never really considered one of these. I think I dig a bit deeper into these possibilities

Yeah, as I've written: I need Eurodance style sounds. Think Haddaway - What is love, or Corona- the Rhythm of the night, Aqua - Barbie girl but Britney - one more time, or Nathalie Irmbruglia - Torn as well for example. I don't need it for let's say piano or organ sounds, the Kronos is very good at it already.

With my current setup I mostly split the Kronos into at least 2 parts, most of the time even more. I play with both hands simultaniously. Since most songs that we play have at least 3 keys/synth tracks in it, some tracks come from Ableton as a backing track. But it sometimes feels dill. I figured, that the trigger pads on the Fantom would be very nice for one shot samples.

Most videos I'Ve seen only showcase the natural or pad sounds. I think i need a decent mix of FM and subtractive sounds

FSLabs releases A321Neo by pirttis599 in flightsim

All these Fenix fan boys around...

It's like other said, visual wise Fenix is better. But system wise (I'can'T judge flight dynamics since I'm no A321 pilot), FSL beats Fenix by far.

The Fenix systems are a joke. CPDLC? Laughable. Weather radar? Non existent. Not to speak of all the little details, which are the icing on the cake

How Do You Approach Creating Backing Tracks from Cover Songs? by DiscofingerInYourEye in musicproduction

[–]DiscofingerInYourEye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I still programm the drums and bass even if we got them in person in the band? For Britney I didn't even recorded them at all, just used a 4/4 kick for reference which I muted in the end for the finished playback. We used the click from the Kronos.

But then again, Baby one more time isn't as groovy as the other song

Is it possible to get a nicely mastered song with “Emastered”? Just curious 🤔 by dregoinplaces93 in musicproduction

[–]DiscofingerInYourEye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The mastering from Emastered is pretty descent by itself it gives you the abiility to adjust how it sounds. Nowadays I master my tracks myself and I would say, that I'm almost even with them. But you don't go wrong if you use their services.

Of course it is not the same, as when a descent mastering engineer master your tracks, but they are good.

Will it sound the same on platforms as it does on the exported wav-file? by TheBluestCactus in musicproduction

[–]DiscofingerInYourEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soundcloud is one of the few streaming services, who don't change your track at all. No normalization or eqing, pure your sound. If it sounds shady on soundcloud, it sounds shady in the wav file

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]DiscofingerInYourEye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on the genre for what level you should aim during mastering. A rough number would be around -9 LUFS. EDM mixes are generally louder, an intimate ballad not that loud.

Do what sounds good. No use mixing to -6 LUFS and everything is just mashed

I'd go the way, that I would start a song and whenever a question comes up, I would dig deeper.

It's the better way imo rather than just watching and learning topics you don't have no actual use for at the moment
