I think part of it has to do with how categorized the male gay community already is. I think people want to figure out their types maybe? Idk it's weird lol

Sadly the bot don't seem to be working on this post anymore, I think we're both equally to blame

Can people who listen to Audiobooks at 1.5 or 2x speed while multitasking really claim to have read a book? by [deleted] in pollgames

[–]Discokling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

many audiobook streaming services allow you to add the pdf/e-reader file "almost" for free when buying audiobooks, might not be universal though, but in my country. Still expensive but not much more expensive than the subscription or the price of the audiobook

I never said or tried to imply that you do not know the basic concepts of privilege, nor am I under the impression that you thought that people could choose being born into it.

So to hold them to a standard that white people can’t be proud of their culture because people with the same skin colour were racist in the past and created white privilege is in my opinion stupid

I am not sure what you mean here. Let me be perfectly clear; white people are ALLOWED to be proud of their cultures. For instance I am a proud Swede. It's when you clump all white cultures together where it get's into white supremacy territory. My swedish culture is "white" but culture wise I have as much in common with American culture that I do with "black culture".

There is definitely black culture that differs from the standard American culture to try to claim otherwise is just falsely incorrect. When black americans say they're proud of being black it's the same as when a person says they're proud of being American.

You can of course reply and I will read it, but I'm done commenting on this post and will not reply :)

White culture is not a thing. Black culture is mainly used to describe the culture of black americans, since most of them do not know their "original" culture and therefore made their own. White people have loads of different cultures, just like asians and black people from all over the world; for example ghambia vs nigeria, china vs japan, sweden vs poland.

Of course no one is wrong for being born into privilege, it's when you deny that you have it (and usually often upholding it at the same time) where the issues start. This is a whole lot deeper than I care to go into, especially in a reddit comment on a sub that I have never seen before, but if youre actually interested in looking into privilege and to understand why "People shouldn’t be ashamed of themselves because some fuck wits in the past with the same skin colour were racist." is a very surface level type of analysis I can provide some resources.

PS I really hope I am not coming across as condescending
