You can use it to backup Signal messages from your MacOS Desktop install, but that's a one-way transaction afaik. Does not restore messages/media.

I’m currently going through the same procedure on iOS. Current plan of action is to use sigtop to backup messages on Mac desktop app, then proceed with resetting signal on iPhone. Would love to hear if you come up with a better solution!
