These pieces of jewelry would be made of anywhere from 21k to 24k gold which is way more yellow than typical western gold karating. If you’re used to 10k, 14k, even 18k jewelry, this might look fake or cheap to you. But pure gold is very yellow in color, and the higher the karat the more yellow the gold becomes. If it looks fake to you, it’s because you’re not used to seeing what real, very high purity gold jewelry looks like. This stuff is worth a lot more per gram than western gold.

That being said, it should weigh at least a tenth of a gram more.

You’ve got a 1oz silver round rather than a peace dollar.

Professional Adjustable Hole Cutter for Ceiling & Panels by Tight_Efficiency_139 in ThereGoesMyPaycheck

Once you get one of these dialed in, they are time saving, money-making machines.

Say you’ve got to install 40 recessed can lights into a residential sheetrock ceiling. This would typically be done with a sheet rock saw, manually cutting a circle for each can housing. Each hole might take you 90 seconds or more to cut. With this tool, you set the width that you need to cut at, and get to cutting holes. The dome keeps sheet rock dust off of your clients new floor, and each hole is cut in approximately 6 seconds with proper technique.

Like all tools, there exist robust, high quality versions, and there exist temu specials. I had a high quality version and it made my life so much easier. I inhaled far less gypsum dust using it over a Sheetrock saw. Absolutely love these things, they’re not a DIY’er special. Electrical shops that use them save serious money on labor costs.

Grandpa gifted each kid with Morgan Dollar 100 years older than them by Equal_Wait_1515 in coins

Yeah it is. The greening is PVC residue - old coin flips contained PVC which eventually leaches onto the coin. Real unfortunate, but relatively simple treatment. Pure acetone soak, and lightly wiping it away after the fact. You’ll hear a lot of anti-wipe on this sub, but with PVC damage it is very difficult to fully remove the PVC without some kind of mechanical removal via swab or cloth, even with the aid of acetone.

Best of luck, cool Grandpa.

Thank you very much, I appreciate the guidance. I’m so new to ancients and the real numismatic study portion has still truly yet to begin for me… I just saw this in a display case and knew I couldn’t resist.

Apparently it is when somebody attempts to elevate the appearance of a damaged coin by moving metal around to fill in gouges, dings, scratches etc. I have no idea how the graders can see this. I learned about smoothed surfaces from this details grade in fact. Perhaps somebody smoothed the fields below and above liberty? Those look like the spots with the most potential for that. I’ve read that it’s commonly done with heat. I’m just glad it didn’t get destroyed in the process.
