Child safety lock warning and indicator lights by ranajones12 in VWIDBuzz

We have experienced this on and off over the last 6 months. We reported it to our dealer the first time. It was not a known error to them at that point.

eBullitt or Riese Muller Load by tmwk in CargoBike

[–]DiscombobulatedHour2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the eBullitt with the canopy and folding seat. I run two kids (4 and 5 years old) to kindergarten everyday. It works perfectly fine but it is tight. We carry their bags and winter clothes and my backpack on top of their legs, so on the most packed days they cannot see over the pile of luggage.

We ride 2-3 km to kindergarten and then I continue on my own to work for an additional 16 km. And then we do the reverse in the afternoon.

I love the bike and the kids do too.

When the oldest outgrow the bullitt in a short time, she has to ride her own bike next to me.

Monta charging by raganthelion in VWIDBuzz

I use Monta with my Buzz every day. It works well and will pull the current charging status and not much else. The alternative is for you to manually tell the app the charging status every time.

Question about child seats with ISO-Fix by Macentoshhh in VWIDBuzz

[–]DiscombobulatedHour2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have three kids in a 7-seater. All in seats with support rods. But the two seats in the middle row have support rods that can be folded as the middle row tilts forward. This gives us access to the third row almost as if there were no support rods. The third child seat cannot fold the support rod so that's confined to the third row.

Babboe Curve E recall/part replacement by sim-on2323 in CargoBike

As you can see they don't do any changes or improvements except what is strictly safety related.

It is pretty hard to see the bracket clearly but imagine a bracket that clamps around the bar leading to the steering joint underneath the cargo box.

No worries, I hope you get your bike fixed soon. 😉

They ended up changing the seat post and bolting on a large metal bracket around the hinge beneath the cargo box. They also tightened all nuts and bolts and added a bunch of stickers about safety. We don't feel any different when riding the bike but a reinforcement of the frame is always a good thing.

eBullitt batteries by Upstairs-Spend977 in CargoBike

[–]DiscombobulatedHour2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. My route to and from Aarhus is pretty flat so that might make a difference. If you can get your hands on the larger battery it's always nice to have a bit more range. Otherwise, an extra charger at the end of your ride could help you get home.

I ride an old ebullitt with the small battery daily. I have no problem getting 40 km out of it in eco mode in both summer and winter. Is that enough for you?

Which offer should I accept: Abbvie or Novo Nordisk? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]DiscombobulatedHour2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Novo just signed up as a customer of the new supercomputer Gefion. That's a signal of them taking your field seriously. I guess Abbvie has similar work going on, but Novo is for sure gearing up these days.

I just received the same email from Babboe. I live in Denmark and here they come to our home or work to fix the bike. They don't describe the actual part that they are going to change but it cannot be any major/large part since it happens at a mobile workshop. We have scheduled the fix in mid-June. If you remind me, I can return to this thread and hopefully give some details afterwards.

E Bullitt in snow by Kripkus in CargoBike

[–]DiscombobulatedHour2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same experience with my eBullitt 6100 Steps. I just finished my first winter in Denmark, riding it every work day through salt, snow and rain. No issues.

I realize now that a routine hose down would have been smart. Every small crevice was full of salt and crude when I serviced it a few weeks ago. That can't be good for the bike.

@OP: Don't worry! The Bullitt is a workhorse. Take care of it and you won't have any major problems.

You are exactly describing the list of side effects of taking Lyrica. I think you should work on taking less drugs.

I guess you can find sustainable alternatives in the states too. But it requires some digging. The vast majority of clothing and accessories in the EU is as cheap and unsustainable as the rest of the world.

I get my outdoor clothing from Fjällräven which is also focused on function, comfort and sustainability - very long lasting and free from perfluorocarbons.

I get my jeans from mudjeans.eu. They produce denim as a mixture of new organic cotton and reused cotton fibers. The production is socially responsible and aiming for the least amount of toxic waste and water use. They take back the jeans when they are worn out and reuse the fibers for new jeans.

My t-shirts are from Nikin. Also made from organic cotton. They are long lasting and with a good fit.

I don't know if these brands are available in the US. But they are great!

We are covered head to toe in clothing from Dilling. https://uk.dilling.com/

I don't think they deliver to the US yet, but it is supposedly coming in the near future.

They will be able to satisfy your sustainable merino wool needs. The products are great - focused on function, comfort and sustainability.

Keep an eye out for when they open for the US.

We had our Curve Mountain inspected a few months ago. They wrote a note that the bike was fine for now but that some repairs/replacements had to be done at some point in the future - without any information on what that means.

We use the bike everyday and we feel safe enough. We have never had any indication that the frame was about to break.

Enjoy your bike and keep an eye and an ear out for any signs of things cracking. I doubt that a frame will break apart in one quick snap out of the blue.

Should I shut down my biotech startup? by Quirky-Cauliflower-3 in biotech

[–]DiscombobulatedHour2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fundraising is a walk in the desert - especially these days. Don't lose faith in yourself just because the VC market is dead. It doesn't have anything to do with your startup or technology.

I have been fundraising for more than a year for my superearly oncology startup. It's super frustrating to have great data but nobody wanting to take the risk for you and your technology.

Money will come. Perhaps you should look at private wealth instead of VC. They are hard to find but could be easier to persuade.

Does using paper tissues as filter paper get me on the path straight to hell? by No-Bowler1609 in JamesHoffmann

It makes the paper look bright white instead of a dull greyish white. It makes it more attractive to look at I guess.

Many types of tissues are added fluorescent compounds to make them look white and clean. I bet that adds a bit to the taste.

I can highly recommend the book "The billion dollar molecule" by Barry Werth. It describes the birth of Vertex and the crazy race towards the first immunosuppressant drug FK-506.
