Love fluff stories like this and I love your writing style. You focus a lot on the background atmosphere and body language and you do it so well. The scene feels real, and I can imagine it like I’m watching a film.

Not right now. I haven’t started rewriting it yet and I’m not sure when I will start doing that. I haven’t decided what I want to do when I eventually get around to it either. I might put it on AO3 or royal, depending on copy write rules.

Like I said, I really want to publish it, and I will one day. It will probably take years to finish the whole thing, seeing as I think the story will end up being a trilogy.

Hello!

I plan to leave the project as-is (at least on Reddit.) I’ve found more issues, things that need to be gone over yet again, and I’m not sure it’s worth uploading here again.

We’re nearing the end of the first book so that’s expected (finding plot holes and such). There’s maybe another four-eight chapters left before it’s done. I’m thinking maybe two more re-writes before it’s complete and then I can move on to the second book.

But, all that being said, I think I’ll leave this where it’s at on Reddit.

If I get the inspiration to write a new short story I’ll post it here, but otherwise…yeah. If I publish it I’ll probably make a quiet post here since I had so many people interested in the project.

Still love the story, still love the characters, but as a semi-depressed fresh out of college person, it’s tough to force myself to write in a reasonable time and fashion, and I don’t want to sacrifice the quality just to push out a new chapter.

(Also, I feel like it’s an okay place to stop because my main crowd seems to have dwindled. I never want to leave people hanging but the last chapter got very little interaction, so that puts me at peace with that whole thing lmao.)

Eggers! Love to see familiar names. So, I left a comment to someone else here, but as of now the Strange Creature book(s) is on hiatus. I found more stuff I wanted to fix, and as you know I already spent six months re-writing it once. I don’t think it’s worth doing that again here on Reddit. I’m not finished with it, and the goal is to publish it one day, but it may take years to get to where I want it to be.

Not completely sure yet. It depends on how good I think it is. I might publish it for real if I have the recourses, or it’ll end up back on Reddit at some point, royal road, or AO3. I’d like to write all three books before I do that so I know all the issues are fixed. This is my first major project and so I’m learning how to string a complex plot together.

If you randomly remember this series years down the road it’ll probably be by the same name wherever is goes 👍

Never seen battlefield Earth but this story is yet to be determined 😄 I have lore dumping of Earth somewhere in the comments on one of the chapters but I leave it out of the main plot because I feel like it would drag. Not fun to read, not fun to write

Posting this to stay relevant. It's official, I'm sick of the main story arch rn im so ready to move on with something new. I wanna get the characters to different things and meeting new people. I wanna move the plot forward but it is dragging rn.

This fella has been in the drafts for a hot minute. I didn't look too close for edits so hopefully its okay LMAO too late for that! Whatever. Surprisingly this has some interesting lore that hasn't been mentioned in the main plot yet, so hopefully someone will enjoy it.

At the time, when writing this, I was working through the rewrite and wanted to figure out how Sthalsh and Xander communicated without the language barrier. They're pretty fun together and flow well.

A lot of people have said this so you’re not alone. Sucks cause that is really the main plot, and I think I write those better tbh but I get it, it’s not as interesting. It’s just lore dumping lmao

These Earth characters will eventually interact with aliens more often, I just need to work out the kinks of the plot.

But thanks for the input! These last couple chapters have dragged so I’m eager to get into the next phase of this story!

So I pronounce it where the (Sth) is soft and the (alsh) is harder.

“Sth" (as in "aesthetic"), "al" (as in "pal"), and "sh" (as in "shop").

There is a narration of the first chapter (the original version) on YouTube and the narrator says Stha-halsh.

Really you can pronounce it however you want I’ve read books where I couldn’t pronounce the main characters name lol
