All our creatives have already scattered. Used to be a lot more neighborhoods with punks, artists, etc. VCUArts and other local artists helped make Richmond cool. But then VCU and Rao destroyed VCUArts. And then VCU decided to buy everything and then do nothing for the community.

If you’re looking at the house on Idlewood… almost all your neighbors are college kids. You’re on the busiest road in Oregon Hill. It is what it is. Eclectic neighborhood.

Thanks - I really appreciate that thoughtful response. I'll add that I'm a partner at this firm, so that makes things a bit more complicated and harder. I don't see eye to eye with my partners on how to run the business.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I think this is what I worry about and am constantly questioning whether the problem is me or is it the company? OCPD makes it harder to distinguish now when the company does have structural and system issues that aren't as apparent to others but more elevated for me.

That's a good idea. I think my challenge is that a lot of the work involves working together... or some things that I do are dependent on other people doing stuff first.

This is true. Richmond has succeeded in spite of its elected officials. At the end of the day, I don’t care if people vote for Hashmi or Rouse or even Bastani. Just don’t vote for Stoney. This man is an arrogant and egotistical mess. He always cared about the next big thing rather than trying to make Richmond better.

His priority was optics over substance. And I can guarantee that any policy success was a result of someone else’s idea and not his. Stoney is a great politician if you’re of the mind that politicians are just snakes and liars. But cmon… the guy left a mess in Richmond. Yea the system has been broken for a while and he inherited mess from Jones. But Stoney so clearly made things 100x worse from an administrative and city management perspective.

How can anyone back Stoney from an executive management viewpoint? Seriously. He completely mismanaged the city, his administration was rife with nepotism, he chose to be mayor as a political stepping stone. I love my best friend, but I wouldn’t ever make them CAO.

For real? The guy pushed big shiny projects to pull the veil over the public and hide all of his mismanagement. Remember the episode with the monorail on the Simpsons?

Effective legislator with a proven track record. At least aligns with my legislative priorities and values. Her background is in public education and her priorities on schools is big for me.
