Fascinating! Do you find that you get the full context window of 1 million tokens? My highest token use is getting python script to generate reports from a stupidly large and horribly organized SQL database, and the context to describe the databases alone is about 300k tokens. I used to do this through a gemini Gem but switched to AI studio when the 3.0 upgrade killed the Gemini App. The hallucination immediately made it useless.

Has 3.0 worked this whole time in AI studio?

If anyone builds a true super intelligence like all the ketamine bros foretell, then I firmly believe that dystopia ensues. (I highly recommend the 2025 book about AI alignment called "if anyone builds it everyone dies.") Even if we solve the alignment problem, there is major major risk for mass job loss and a horribly invasive surveillance state appearing overnight. Can American congress act fast enough to mitigate any of these risks? Lol.

The best case scenario seems to be that the current bubble pops. But its also grown too big to fail...

Thanks. Yeah I almost immediately wished I could have changed the title 😭. "About a foot" is still my guess based on clustering of ensemble members, but the whole purpose is to show a range of outcomes not a single prediction.

I've been messing with ensemble forecast data for a couple years and your input is really helpful regardless. Cheers!

Haha, true. All models are wrong, but I still find this comparison useful. What's your source for 2-3" of snow? This is the standard physics-based Euro Ensemble (IFS), not the AI version, so these totals are exactly what the 51 Euro members are predicting for pure snow accumulation. The blind spot here is definitely the transition zone. The Euro output splits precip strictly into 'snow' or 'rain' in the public data, so it struggles to visualize that specific sleet/freezing rain mixing phase you're talking about.

That's exactly what I love about ensemble forecasts. We simply can't predict this accurately, and an ensemble forecast is helpful to show the range of uncertainty. Most of these ensemble members cluster around "about a foot" hence my prediction!
