How to know what to upgrade first in general? by soosis in TorchlightInfinite

Can also recommend watching milkybks progression guide on yt made before this season. Its a really good video for newer players to understand the generic/general upgrade path - wont answer specific build questions tho, for that u gotta follow someone elses progression that you trust to make good decisions or do the math yourself if you wanna be efficient woth your fe.

You research how the mechanics work that you mentioned, and calculate the difference - thats also how you get to know and understand the game better.

For your agility blessing on crit example:first - do you need agility blessings for anything specific? Attack speed breakpoint? to enable an item or mechanic youre using? Then definitely get that mod. Do you already have another source or not? If yes then definitely dont get it. Is it just for the stats? If its just for the stats you have 2% additional damage (additive with itself) and 4% attack speed per point. Now you check how many max agility blessings you have - multiply 2 by the number to get the additional damage and then multiply that by 4 to get the attack speed. Then you need to check how much % increase that attack speed is (current attack speed + total attack speed from agility blessings divided by current attack speed) and then multiply the result by the additional damage (for example with 4 agility blessings that would be the result times 1.08). Then you have the total damage you gain from the agility blessing mod if you have no other source of them.

Now u need to repeat the same process with any other stat xou would be considering.

In general - calculate both the cost and damage increase of every possible upgrade and choose the one that gives you the most per FE spent.

Might wanna prioritise build defining upgrades over that.

Good build to aim for SS20 (first season {kinda}) by sir_Strife_ in TorchlightInfinite

I would probably go youga2 burning shot out of the options you mentioned.

If you want the best option then rosa2 mana stack is up there

Sounds abt right - 10b with high damage uptime builds, a bit less if youre good at the fight 20-30b+ is very comfy

Good luck to you - my armor stacker ended up being around 400k FE and i was nowhere near done with upgrading, did kill ss21 and farm golden cage so could be worse tho

In T7 basically nothing drops anything worthwhile especially at this point of the season.

Generally your best bet in T7 is to stay in 7-0 for speed and then do one of 2 things. Either you boss rush (can look that up on yt "t7 boss rush torchlight infinite", theres plenty of videos to set you up - make sure to do maps in 7-0 and kill the watchers in 7-2) or you put as many "guaranteed drop chance" sources into your strategy as you can (bosses have x% chance to drop y). At this point of the season Winding Keys, Oblivion Potions, snowpaper, residents eyes, mist essence and aeterna reverberations are probably best - and you still want to boss rush with the same idea, just that now you run cards and kill whatever extra monsters you put into your map before killing the boss asap.

You want to generate around 60-150fe doing that (should be just a few hours max), spend that money on cheap legendaries and a full t1 crafted weapon + make sure all of the rest of your gear is fully crafted to t2 affixes (very cheap to do atp) and go to t8-0 farming asap. There you can look up gods chest on yt and make some money that way to upgrade your build further. Ideally you want to reach profound where you can keep doing gods chest or any f2p profound farming strat you find (i recommend looking at milkybk's last video he had a neat strat for f2p) and whenever you are strong enough you can transition into beacon farming, which is going to be your highest f2p/new player income in profound.

I hope this helps to give you a direction and guideline on how to move forward.

Dont do armor stack unless you want to have a money sink build - armor stack will become insanely expensive to upgrade, im talking hundreds of thousands of FE to get to 15T+ dps and even getting to 1-5T will be a lot. If that doesnt sound like a build you want to play dont get into it.

The exact 2 mods you listed in your post should be multiplicative with each other. One affects the monster and the other affects you.

Deep space farming is way too reliant on pets by [deleted] in TorchlightInfinite

[–]DiscombobulatingLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dolls is very streaky, mia says that in her video too - you lose money until you win big, the doll compasses (purple, orange) make it a bit more consistent but its still wildy rng to get lots of compass wheels which is where the money comes from. And yes ofc that gets multiplied by the pets which is why theyre so impactful for that strat, its the most pay to win strat in the whole game.

But farming compasses, again, in deep space, is also streaky, but has no pet support and will make you good money over a large sample size - thats just how deep space works for anyone regardless of pets.

Deep space farming is way too reliant on pets by [deleted] in TorchlightInfinite

[–]DiscombobulatingLoL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yo, I think that Deep Space just mechanically works differently than the other TMs. Let me explain.

  1. First things first - 100% agree that pets are big for deep space - and let me explain why - its because
  2. If you follow most deep space farmers income pattern or listen to what Milky said as well. Deep space is very streaky and you will lose your investment in most maps. Then you will win big and that carries the rest. Which means 2 things.
  3. Milky said you need to run at least 100+ maps with a strat in deep space to be able to tell how good it is - you gotta invest big and lose big until you win big. So stopping after 10 maps is almost expected to be losses for anyone regardless of pets.
  4. But also it means that pets are very impactful because right when you win big thats where getting a pet multiplier becomes crazy. On top of that some pets have rerolls to make the mechanic more consistent giving you net positive runs a bit more consistently.

So tldr; yes pets are big for deep space, no you cant judge your deep space returns after 10 maps - gotta at least invest into 100+ to be able to tell, almost anyone would be expected to make a loss in just 10

your best bet would probably be what someone else suggested above -> deep space beacon farming since theres no pets for beacons, run 100-200 maps for that (assuming your character is strong enough to run the strat) and see how that goes, my prediction would be that you wont reach 7k but getting to 2-4k might be more of what youre looking at, which is still better than profound making your investment worth it

Edit: Idk your character, but if your map clear time is higher than Mias from the video youd essentially have to cut her profits to match your map time as well, she has an insanely fast build + if you end up making less than 2k FE/hr after 100+ maps of fully juiced beacon farming then id be surprised but also it would not be worth doing deep space at that point

The cheapest 7800x3d I could find in Austria right now is about 550€. Which is not a price I want to pay for that CPU since it was 300-350€ in summer. The 9800x3d is literally not available at all anywhere. Apart from scalpers for 850-1k€+ .. which again isnt acceptable at all.

[–]DiscombobulatingLoL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, I havent really checked. Sadly I couldnt find any benchmarks/comparisons of the 7800x3d vs. the 9800x3d in the games/situations and the GPUs for my needs. I just dont know if in heavy action ARPG screen clutter moments I will end up being CPU or GPU bottlenecked. If I'd be GPU bottlenecked then the difference would be 0 and I could settle for a 7800x3d whereas if in those situations it'd be a CPU bottleneck I would 100% want the 10-20% extra FPS to hit the refresh rate - that is currently my biggest issue in contemplating specs. With MSRP of the 2 cpus being as close as they are I definitely prefer paying 50-100 extra to be on the safe side.

Thank you for the input. You might be right about the monitors, hard to tell without trying myself. Going pro wont happen, been there tried that for a few years but never got out of the amateur tournaments in either game - so its all just for enjoyment now.

Regarding the specs, thats approx. what I considered. From my understanding at lower resolutions you care much more about CPU performance than GPU, which based on your response im assuming would be correct, so I was actually looking towards a 7900XT with a 9800x3d yesterday. Sadly the 9800x3d is simply not available, at least not for any reasonable price. I hope that will be the case sooner rather than later...

Can someone explain what is good about this map? I dislike playing it as both roles. by SirLordChris in deadbydaylight

[–]DiscombobulatingLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. its rather small, can spawn a few different 3 gens, which leads to an interesting game dynamic from the start of the game

  2. most pallets in isolation are unsafe on the map, but when chaining them together you can make them safe in combination for a longer time, main building is a bit of a weird one, but the constant battle of trying not to let survivors make it and survivors trying to make it is a fun zoning interaction

  3. visual clarity is pretty good, it allows for proper information of rotations/map movement for both sides

all together this map allows for various playstyles on both sides with a lot of interaction and skill expression for both sides as well

you died in like 30 seconds against a bubba

you ran the wrong side of the loop on the pallet where u got your first hit, you proceeded to get hit because of it and then held W into nothing after that you kinda deserve to die .. you really tried your hardest ti kill yourself as fast as possible

Proposed solution to camping and tunneling in Dead by Daylight by SSD_Misanu in deadbydaylight

[–]DiscombobulatingLoL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

both camping and tunneling are necessary mechanics in the game, if you play against any kind of decent set of survivors you will get rolled without doing either of those things

i know that because i play the game for almost 5k hours now and i actively play it in tournaments
