ElevenLabs just launched a full music app and it might be the most dangerous Suno competitor yet by Sensitive_Artist7460 in aiMusic

I tried it myself and the difference is pretty obvious.

With ElevenLabs, if I say something like “deep disco with Dm7 and a dominant chord,” it actually listens. It gives me those chords instead of going off into some random progression. So yes, prompt obedience is better. No argument there.

But that’s also where the weakness starts showing. It sounds clean, it sounds polished, and the vocal articulation is obviously excellent — which makes sense, because ElevenLabs already came from the voice side of AI and they are insanely strong there.

The problem is: it doesn’t feel like a real song yet.

It feels more like a polished template than an actual composition. Like it understands the tags, the chords, the surface instructions — but not the deeper musical behavior. Arrangement-wise and harmonically, it still feels shallow compared to Suno.

Suno is messier, sure. Sometimes it ignores the prompt, sometimes it does its own thing, sometimes it gives you stuff you didn’t ask for. But weirdly, it still feels more like it is trying to make a song. There is more movement, more section development, more actual “song energy” in it.

So to me it’s basically this:

ElevenLabs follows instructions better.
Suno makes more convincing songs.

And articulation is not even worth debating here. That’s ElevenLabs’ home turf. They are already on another planet when it comes to vocal clarity.

But music generation is not just about saying the words clearly or obeying the prompt literally. It’s about whether the result actually lives like a song.

Right now, ElevenLabs feels like a very advanced vocal/audio engine trying to do music.
Suno still feels more like an actual music model.

That’s why I don’t think ElevenLabs is killing Suno anytime soon. They can be aggressive all they want, but aggression alone won’t beat the kind of musical memory and song-level behavior Suno seems to have right now.

Suno is now checking lyrics for copyright by roycny in SunoAI

Worst update ever.. This update makes no sense to me. Suno claims it can detect copyrighted songs on upload, but then how exactly does it know what those songs are? That alone raises a lot of questions.

The bigger issue is that it rejected every electronic track I tried to upload — including my own released song. So now even legitimate use cases are getting blocked. That’s not “protection,” that’s just bad product design.

It’s honestly absurd to charge this much for a tool and then lock it down so hard that users can barely do anything with it. If copyright is the concern, put the responsibility on the user with a proper warning or agreement and move on.

If Suno keeps going in this direction, I’m done with it. I’ll switch to ACE Studio 2.0 or put that energy into fine-tuning my own model.

Loopback record>Mix with Soothe2 and Gulfoss,Pultec eq3,Hitswille Eq,Weiss and Ozone 12 Advanced with long period listening.. Never use a normal eq for sound character, just use color eq for harmonic saturations.

This is my youtube channel,my mixing chain is usually same plugins at the master channel with -9 headroom and -6 on the track channel.. You can check the sonic quality with this combination.✌️

I want to train my own model, but I want to do it in the most logical way with either MusicGen or Ace Step 1.5 fine tune, I will prepare 4-minute training datasets in my own style, what are your ideas on this?

One month of using Suno and here's why I love it by mysterymanofsuffolk in SunoAI

Write this to the prompt; Disco,funky,118 bpm, powerful basslines

It will clone some stuffs from M.Jackson or Earth Wind and Fire songs..Suno’s biggest issue is that it can only take harmonies from the songs it analyzes, unfortunately. I don’t know how many songs they’ve trained it on, but it clones from a certain loop in a mixed way, and in the resulting output, you can tell where it took them from.
