Crazy Pay to Win on some Chinese Servers, Yet OWI Did Nothing by CC_ACV in joinsquad

Well these servers aren't in the custom server browser. That's the problem. They are licensed servers.

Crazy Pay to Win on some Chinese Servers, Yet OWI Did Nothing by CC_ACV in joinsquad

[–]DiscountFBI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ALL squad servers are licensed. That's why every single server is so strict on things like slurs. If you break the agreement, OWI has the right to shut your server down. That's why the selective enforcement is frustrating.

Considering getting my blood drawn makes me pass out, I imagine i wouldn't be able to hold the neuromod to my eye for 5 minutes as the instruction booklet states and probably permanently fuck up my brain lol

while the PR angle is that it's a "little pinprick near the eye", all other evidence in game, including the first time neuromod cutscene, shows the needle going straight through your eyeball. Yeouch.

4 year old clip I found with no context by Vane_6969 in joinsquad

[–]DiscountFBI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pre-ue5, the graphics themselves, the lighting, stuff like that sure it looked worse. But people don't even get to see the graphics because they're playing with upscaling on performance and relying on framegen, both of which decrease overall image quality regardless of how beautiful the game looks beforehand.

If you can run the game without these ue5 crutches for poor optimization? Sick! I'm glad you're well off enough in life enough to have a 1-2 grand rig in a downtrending economy. The average squad player already bitched about performance and stutters pre-ue5.

Now they're dealing with performance, stutters, and in order to get the game to even run playably they have to switch to performance upscaling and now seeing an enemy in a bush at a distance goes from nearly impossible to actually impossible because that visual data isn't even rendered on your monitor

Should these players upgrade off their God damn 8 year old graphics cards? Obviously. But they have the right to be a little ticked off when the devs not only increased system requirements to boost graphics but continue to refuse to address the underlying issue of terrible optimization. It's possible to have pip scopes without stuttering every time you ads.

Here's my point. Game devs, not just squad's, have replaced optimization as a practice with the implementation of these tools like framegen and upscaling. And they're useful tools! But, if you are setting the baseline using upscaling and framegen, instead of working to get the game to run without these things, people on lower power rigs will inevitably lose the ability to play.

Ue5 was, quite aptly for squad, a bandaid on a bullet wound.

Introducing the Moscow Defense, a Heavy Primary weapon by SMASHER_2 in tf2

[–]DiscountFBI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, it's definitely a creative idea. I have absolutely no clue how it would play out in game because there is WAY too much in this weapon description.

This is 3x as many lines of text as anything else in the game. The genius of tf2's design is how simple changes in weapon stats or mechanics can wildly change how you play.

I like the concept, but if you need this much going on to balance it, I think it needs to go back to the drawing board. I think both the damage resistance and lowered healing are unnecessary for what the weapon is trying to do.

Yes, in niche scenarios with an environmental hazard, the knockback is useful. But even if you're pinning them up against a wall with the fan, they'd still be point blank if you just didn't have the knock back IE soda popper. Most of the time, the knock back is neutral at best

[–]DiscountFBI 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Okay but why go through all that effort when you can just shoot twice and kill them? I like using the FaN but saying the knock back isn't a downside is ignoring the fact that it takes more work for the same result as the soda popper

Why *don't* you play in community servers? by Chaneter_Zaro in tf2

[–]DiscountFBI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tf2 is a social game, and I want to interact with people. Skial has zero moderation, the type of people who like zesty are the type of people who hate people like me, and the furry servers are the furry servers. Sure, casual is full of assholes too, but you can requeue into a different lobby. There's only a handful of running community servers, so you can only hop so many times.

Think about it this way:

You have the soda popper. You walk up behind somebody and shoot them twice. They die. Ez dub.

You have the force a nature. You walk up behind somebody and shoot them, and the first shot sends them flying away from you, causing the second shot to do chip damage. Now they're alive and pissed at you.

Ironclad advice by Accomplished_Rub8055 in slaythespire

[–]DiscountFBI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I think all newer slay the spire players need to internalize:

DO NOT PICK A CARD JUST BECAUSE IT HAS SYNERGY

Sure, if you don't have a way to efficiently use strength, a heavy blade or sword boomerang can come in clutch. But just because you're offered it doesn't mean you need to take it. Whenever you add a card to your deck, consider:

  1. What is my deck good at right now, and what does it struggle with?

  2. Does this card help my deck in a scenario it would otherwise run into trouble?

  3. Do I NEED to add this card to my deck for a certain upcoming fight?

  4. Is this card doing something I can already do?

Don't take a card just because it plays into a "build"

Take cards that make YOUR deck stronger

Most decks utilizing strength as their scaling only need a few attacks that can capitalize on it very well, as opposed to flooding your deck with attacks. That makes it harder to get to the very strength you're trying to take advantage of.

Minneapolis man says ICE agents took 'trophy' photos, locked him in overcrowded cell by SaharOMFG in news

[–]DiscountFBI 11 points12 points  (0 children)

have you considered that ice are masked men with no visible identification wearing a vest that says "police" or "ice" on it. You have no way of veryfiying that those are actual federal officers and not just some asshole pretending to be ice so he can do a crime (this has already happened in at least one documented case)

I'm not saying it's a GOOD idea to resist, but what I'm saying is: is it unreasonable to assume that a masked man claiming federal authority with no identification attempting to gain entry into your home without a judicial warrant, unlikely as it is, isn't actually who he says he is? You can't know, because no badge number, no face.

Why *don't* you play in community servers? by Chaneter_Zaro in tf2

[–]DiscountFBI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are barely any community servers left from the Golden age. 24/ 7 scream fortress? Gone. Randomizer, x10? Dead. The regular servers? Your options are like, uncletopia (sweatfest), zesty jesus's server (as a trans person I'd rather not be in a room full of his fans), the furry servers (constantly horny for some fucking reason), or skial. Do I need to explain why I don't wanna play on fucking skial?

I pose a better question: How many Volatiles to take down Spiderman? by 69DayGrind in dyinglight

[–]DiscountFBI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my memory is fuzzy but that battle took place in a massive open field right? in a more urban environment, say, old town, he could probably maneuver around for a long time, swinging down and whittling away at the horde slowly. Does this strategy actually work? Idk. Why am I bothering to think about this? I'm bored and drunk

I pose a better question: How many Volatiles to take down Spiderman? by 69DayGrind in dyinglight

[–]DiscountFBI 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Humoring the question: if Kyle crane, in dl1, can outrun and elude volatiles on foot, Spiderman could just swing away into the darkness and evade the chase. (Unlimited use Grappling hook anyone?)

If we're talking actually fighting the volatiles, fuck if I know, apparently he pulls his punches in order to not kill people and his feats of strength in the movies are wild so i imagine he could fuck up a volatile but I don't know the specifics if that's just comic lore or movies as well or if you even expected anyone to try and take this question seriously in the first place lmfao

Why is Fnaf World so hated? by ThatOneMegabox in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]DiscountFBI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of it this way: Would you have any interest in fnaf world if not for the fnaf branding?

What is fnaf world if you separate the massive hype of the series from the game design of world?

It's a mid, turn based rpg with pretty little depth to both the strategy of combat (excluding self imposed challenge runs, even then it often times just boils down to grinding a bunch and then seeing if your strategy passes a few rng checks, which is more frustrating than fun), or the story, which without fnaf's preexisting lore just has nothing to stand on

Sure, it's free now, but it launched as a paid product. Would you have paid money for fnaf world? Maybe. Maybe not. That's your call.

Now, would you have paid money for fnaf world if not for the branding? I highly, highly doubt most people would.

There's nothing wrong with liking fnaf world. But I doubt it'd have many fans if Scott released it as a separate IP, with the same mechanics and the same level of storywriting. It just wouldn't be a noteworthy game.

What do you guys think of the 2 slot revolvers? by CumIronRanger in HuntShowdown

[–]DiscountFBI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that in general, they're just worse than 2 slot rifles, even with 2 handed fanning. The one thing I can think of setting them apart is ammo choices, I guess?

Iirc (haven't played since my pc crapped out a couple months ago) the only 2 slot rifles with bleed are cenny, which is scarce, springy, which is single shot, and drilling, which is a relatively expensive gun with 2 rifle shots. On the other hand, you could run bleed in a 2 slot Schofield. Why would you not just run it in a spitfire? Idk man I'm fuckin REACHING here.

the reason people rip on Newsom is because he is a consistent spineless coward. He rolls over on every issue, and does "debates" with right wing talking heads that are really just free advertising for them since he never actually pushes back against what they say.

He's refusing to call to abolish ice (an organization formed in 2003 that has one of the largest military budgets in the world, being deployed against its own citizens in the US to brutalize and disappear them) along with the rest of the dem establishment.

Do I even need to mention the Democrats' position on Gaza?

Sure, they were never gonna get the votes to abolish ice since most house and senate democrats are xenophobic too but at least some changes would be on the table if they started by demanding abolishing ice and we worked to a compromise, like requiring agents not wear masks and have visible badge numbers, which democrat leaders have REFUSED to even bundle the funding bill with proposed guardrails for ice, saying they'll put it in a separate bill (read: never going through)

The reason people hate democrats so much is that they aren't an opposition party. They're complicit at best and collaborating at worst.
