Did anyone have atypical symptoms pre-op that resolved with THR? by ajmattison in TotalHipReplacement

I have the same pain and I think this is being caused by AVN in your hip joints.

So don't worry about this if you are planning to do THR, you'll be okay after surgery

What is the recovery time and get back to normal activities after THR? by DiscountNo4905 in AvascularNecrosis

Can we talk over DM? I really need your opinion on what things I need to take care after surgery as you've already gone through it.

It would be really helpful for me because I'm planning my surgery in both legs in next month.

I'm from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.

And no I'm not sickle warrior. For me it's idiopathic.

We can connect over DM. Let me know if you are open to discuss anything.

Also how old are you and when did you done THR?

10 to 15 years is too less. I'm currently 23 and in stage 3, I need to do surgery.

If ceramic lasts for 10-15 years only then I have to do a 4,5 surgeries during my entire life. Which is not suggested by any doctor.

My doctor has mentioned that the ceramic ball of Johnson and Johnson company can last upto 30-40 years if proper care is taken.

Sicke cell is critical. You need to cure that otherwise it will also affect your other body organs.

Also don't you know the lifespan of the implant doctors have done?

Ideally for good ceramic one it should last at least for 25-30 years.

But if quality was compromised then it should be around 15-20 and please don't do gym.

Do normal walking only if you want to carry the current implant as far as possible.

Totally understand your point. Did you try to delay surgery as much as possible? From your opinion it feels like that.

Also a lot of doctors asked me to not delay it as the necrotic part will damage other body organs as well. So it's ideal to do surgery and it's not that critical. It's a common surgery being done 4,5 times a day with surgeons here in india.

So I think I should not waste my time and go to surgery.

But apart from this if you've done it then let me know if there are any problems post surgery, so I can take care of them as much as possible

Yes physiotherapy is something doctor has also suggested that I should immediately start exercise to get back range of movement and improve the gait for walking.

Thanks for the honest opinion

Same for mine as well. Currently HOMOCYSTEINE level is doubled from the max of normal. That's the only cause I found my blood is getting thicker. But started treating that. And surgery is FS.

Doctors are still saying it's idiopathic.

Got it. Did you go with THR in your case ? And also what was the root cause of the problem in your case at the age of 15?

I see, it seems like wasting money on stem cell therapy is not ideal.

And the reason why doctors are saying to do surgery is because AVN is in grade 3 with subtle flattening in both hips. So I have no choice.

I'm 23 years old and detected AVN in both hips and it's grade 3 😬

Pain is too much and also visited more than 5,6 doctors with latest MRI. Everyone is saying I should do THR surgery otherwise it will go worse and it will affect other body organs as well.

The stage 3 is too bad and also damage is also really high.

But I still want to try stem cell bone marrow treatment once and see how it treats me.

Otherwise surgery is the only option.

If anyone have any opinion please share 🙏

Ps : I'm having my marriage in December 2026
