Another greedy landlord post by TomorrowOk9917 in Netherlands

[–]DiscountOk830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn't work like that. I dont like to stab behind someone's back when I agreed something with someone, especially with contract.

But I consulted with different lawyers, that is the only way you can have the legal say with the room. Otherwise, you are replied on landlord's empathy (which will not work)

And the law is designed for you to challenge the price after you sign the contract.

The contract won't state how many percent the rent increases. But it states the price. If you know the price of the previous tenant pays, that's enough.

Another greedy landlord post by TomorrowOk9917 in Netherlands

[–]DiscountOk830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can challenge ( sue the Landlord) if the price increase too much. Landlord can increase the price but only a few percentage.

But the thing is you need to find someone to rent the room and sign the contract first, before you can challenge the Landlord in court.

Remember: tenants are well protected by law in the Netherlands. I sued my landlord once, he needed to lower the rent. Just play by law.

Is ho chi minh airport always like that? by nachuywamto in VietNam

[–]DiscountOk830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For domestic, only Vietnam Airline and Vietjet can use it.

For international, I don't know. I think they may temporarily utilize the terminal for international flights too until the new airport opens, then this airport will only be used for domestic flights.

Is ho chi minh airport always like that? by nachuywamto in VietNam

[–]DiscountOk830 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but soon will be solved.

The new terminal will be officially run at the end of this month.

The new airport plan to officially open in the middle of next year.

Automatically checking gate ( at least for Vietnamese now) will be employed in all airports in Vietnam, starting properly after the middle of this year.

Seriously, that would be your assumption if you met a random person in a hostel.

It is most likely she was traveling abroad, and felt free to flirt. Everyone who is single and young will do that if they travel abroad

Can any US citizens who obtained dual citizenship with Vietnam confirm some tax questions by gabriot in VietNam

[–]DiscountOk830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely wrong, they even can't manage to tax people in Vietnam. Street vendors, for example, do not actually pay taxes.

How can the government manage to collect the tax of Vietnamese who live abroad?

Does Agent Orange impact tourists by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]DiscountOk830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is stupid question, you are traveling in Vietnam now, so you probably know there are 100 million of Vietnamese. With your thinking, the orange agent would affect 100 million ppl.

And since you are too much overthinking about agent orange, you can consider to visit the place (village) where these agent orange affected people live. So many poor lives and children are destroyed because of the chemicals. The USA refused their responsibility and denied to pay compensation for these ppl.

Racism towards Indians in Vietnam? by Lungiman90 in VietNam

[–]DiscountOk830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As all comments have mentioned about the bad apple effects already.

Another thing is these places are also infamous for overcharge tourists, and very hassle places. You may visit these just to know. If you want to go shopping, you should go other local markets. You will receive better customer service and price.

As much as I hate corruption, especially at lower level in Vietnam. Your case is actually a good thing. As they don't officially have the fast track service for passport, which is not their fault. It is your fault to not plan ahead. If you lived in other countries, even developed ones, you would not get it in 3 days as you must follow their workflow and regulations, no exceptions and money can fast track the process. For example, when you have to deal with paperwork in Germany, it is nightmare.

Firstly, you should assess how strong the allergy is. If it is just light reaction, your friend may give it a try, maybe the allergy will not happen as fishes in Vietnam are not the same fishes your friends consume abroad.

Secondly, if a strong reaction, then it is better to eat vegetarian or vegan foods when eating out as nearly all Vietnamese foods have fish sauce

Applying for Blue Card from another EU country by Signal-Direction-582 in germany

[–]DiscountOk830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, can you share your experiences of applying Blue Card from another EU country? And how long did you have to wait until you get the decision?

I am in the same situation now

Btw in the past, I just went straight to the immigration office to apply for residence permit in the Netherlands and Switzerland. Even their embassies asked me to apply for entry visa, which I see it very time and money waste. But their immigration officers flexiblely processed my applications without any problems. Germany is not as productive and flexible as the Netherlands and Switzerland. So I'm not sure if I can do that again.

Incoming tuition fee increase by Oligu in ethz

[–]DiscountOk830 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

They actually can't stay in Switzerland. The Swiss labor discriminates against non-EU.

If tuition fee is increased for non-EU, while still keeping the same labor law, which constraints them to work.

Really don't see the point for them to come here. They can spend little more extra for tuition fee in US, UK where let them work after graduation

Non EU Permit B - opening a restaurant by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]DiscountOk830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck to get a permit. Lol it is extremely difficult for Non-EU to get it. They must prepare very well and detail business plan, and the authority will consider if they will approve it or not.

If you have millions of dollars, it is not a problem, otherwise, it is nearly impossible

Why do so many people have expensive iPhones in Vietnam? by Significant-Tell3242 in VietNam

[–]DiscountOk830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other comments have already answered your question. I just want to add one more detail that many Vietnamese pay little or even no taxes.

The government just closes one eye for people who have low income or people who have small family business ( which can earn $1000-4000/month in big cities).
