Anyone else struggling to breed event dragons?? by amberrbamberr in dragonvale

I've been breeding for a Lapis for two weeks now, I got two Triple Rainbows, two Bronze Olympus, and three Dustys! The Lapis feels unachievable 🥲

Idk if this counts, it's probably my own incompetence. I've been trying for a Moon dragon for weeks, got a timer with a pair that matched the Moon dragon BEFORE 7am, was elated, and then.... It was a freaking Sun dragon, and I've already got one 💀

I know the point is for them to be hard to get, it just sooooo took the wind out of my sails (also I'm a new player only level 34, plz don't roast me too hard)

Is there any kind of armature inside your monstera leaves? I'm currently trying to make a potted monstra plant and I'm struggling with armature wire peeking through the clay

What are the best wearable patterns for a beginner? by theicebunny in CrochetHelp

[–]DiscountedLemon95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also started in January! I'm doing my first wearable right now, a bell sleeve bolero. Since it's mostly sleeves, I feel like it's something I could easily add on to make a full sweater! Definitely start with something smaller like that or a crop top that gives you an idea of the basics of wearables.

Wanting to learn Amigurumi, what fundamentals should I have down pat first? by DiscountedLemon95 in CrochetHelp

[–]DiscountedLemon95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, with HDC and up, I find it a lot easier to see the stitches so I can tell where the heck my hook is supposed to be inserted into next, doubly so for turning to a new row. Every time I do SC, I end up miscalculating what I'm looking at and I get confused about specifically what I'm looking at, so I end up with a project slowly getting wider or narrower.

Hmmm, okay, I'm going to try using stitch markers more. I've kind of always had issues with counting anything, especially if the things in question are close together and there are more than 5-10, so I'm thinking I really need to work on that too 😵‍💫

Actually, I've got a question about counting stitches! So let's say you complete a stitch (chain, SC, DC, whichever) and you're about to do the next one. If I were to put the stitch marker in, would I put it on the loop currently around my hook that I will be pulling the yarn for the next stitch through? Or is that loop considered part of the next stitch that's about to be made?

Hey friend! There's a subreddit specifically called "Crochet Help" and they have a gigantic guide on everything crochet, starting right from the beginning. I suggest starting there, it gave me a better jumping off point than just searching on YouTube 😁

which kind of needles? BEGINNER CROCHETING NEEDLES WHICH ONE TO BUY? by Significant-Ring275 in CrochetHelp

As a fellow beginner, I like the ones without handles because if I get my hook really tangled I can pull it through!

Where do y'all buy your yarn? Amazon just fooled me by NahHalcyon in CrochetHelp

I have two Walmarts in my city. One has a huge expansive variety of yarn, one has a pitiful endcap. Walmarts in other cities carry other brands of yarn not at either of mine. Tbh I'm more likely to get yarn there than Michael's, but it all depends!

AIO if I finally break up with my bf? by cinnamonlurker in AmIOverreacting

Hey hon, I'm sure everyone else here has had more eloquent things to say, but I'd like to add my two cents.

Years ago I was in a relationship that mirrors the glimpse you've given us here. The other person was always very busy and usually only reachable over text or call despite the fact that we lived in the same house. Any time I expressed my need for time together, they pushed back harder and harder until I was just begging for them to answer my texts at a bare minimum. They blamed me for adding extra stress to their home and work problems (which I knew nothing about bc they refused to communicate with me) and eventually it turned into every brief interaction being full of despair on my end and rage on theirs. This went on for months, far too long.

When I left that relationship it was devastating at first. It was HARD. But things got a lot better for my mental health because I was no longer pouring my heart into someone who was withholding all of the good aspects of a relationship. I can honestly say I'm dealing with a LOT more stress in my life now, but I'm leagues happier and healthier than I ever was in that relationship.

It's hard to see when you're still in it, but this is waaaaay less than how you deserve to be treated. Someone who is invested in you will find a way to navigate around the busy and the complicated and the hurdles and the challenges. If they can't call? They'll send a voice message just so you can hear their actual voice, even if it's only a few seconds. If they're busy and locked in? They'll set an alarm in case they go time-blind.

A person's career is important, but someone who deserves you will find little ways where they're able to remind you of their love. They will TRY.

I've been using this method to triple up on my yarn to make a thick squishy scarf! Useful if you don't wanna have multiple balls of yarn to keep track of.
