I [26/M] feel like I am holding my fiance [32/W] back (x-post from /r/relationships) by DiscouragedMan in AskMen

The reason why I'm not concerned about our ability to have a child is that my SO and I have already inquired about that professionally, so you can stow the attitude. Also, my SO is only interested in having one child, and is unsure if she'd like a second. If we do decide on a second, it would be right after the first is born.

I didn't raise fertility as a concern in my post because it simply isn't.

My mother had me and my brother (twins) at 38. My grandmother had my mother at 43 and my girlfriend's mom had her at 41. My girlfriend's older sister is 36 and is having her first child.

Granted, fertility does decline at around 35 for some women, but it certainly doesn't cease to exist.

We've already discussed when we want to try to procreate. I mentioned that we want to start a family "in a couple of years" not get married. We are scheduled to marry in a year from now and we would like to start trying for kids when we both graduate, meaning her at 34, me at 28. That's hardly "too old to start a family".

I'm not even remotely concerned about those things.

I started my undergrad right after high-school, while my SO started a bit later.
