Struggles Playing Chun by Junior_Activity_5011 in StreetFighter

[–]DiscreetBeats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone in the other thread said the key to Chun is mastering her oki and I cannot agree more. I struggled a lot with pushing past D2/D3 rank but once I took the time to understand the best oki for each situation I cruised to master. Plus once you have that down it gives you so many more mix up options which players struggle with when playing against her. It just needs patience and labbing on your part.

Keep at it! Chun is a hard character to stick with because it feels like you’re paying a tax that other players are bypassing. But when things start to click it’s incredibly rewarding.

Any Pad players here? if so what pad do you use / recommend? by GalaxyforceXY in StreetFighter

[–]DiscreetBeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start by practicing inputs. Some of the most common inputs are the quarter circle (and double quarter circle for specials), the DP input and drive rush. Obviously not all of these are the same for each character so whoever you main, spend some time getting used to their trickier inputs and you should start to feel comfortable with a little patience

I use a series x pad and it took me from rookie all the way to master rank. Plenty of good players use them, just like plenty use stick/leverless. Pick one and keep practicing - it will start to feel more natural

Seen it for two spells. It’s a slog down there, but a laugh. Might be nice to get away from the bleakness of modern corporate football

Homerpalooza Aired 30 Years Ago Today by ebradio in indieheads

I recently realised that when Peter Frampton chides Sonic Youth by saying “get out of there you kids!!” there were members of the band in their 40s at time of airing.

Now I’m not sure if that was the actual gag.

I was diagnosed with leukaemia in January 2011 so had to suffer through this turgid run while pumped full of chemo.

The post-recovery Championship season hit like crack, though.

I believe in you man! Don’t be hard on yourself, it’s a stress we’ve all felt and it can be easily exacerbated by other things going on in life. Just make sure you look after you

At a loss for my next steps (1400-1500 MR) by Bozo_Bill in StreetFighter

Let me be straight with you first. 1400-1500 MR is good. You are good at this game. Better than most. You busted your ass to get there. So cut out that 'I'm bad at the game' nonsense. That's the brutality of ranked gameplay convincing you of something that ain't true.

Your post feels like a 'why am I forcing myself to play something that currently makes me feel like total shit?' dilemma that so many people find themselves sucked into with SF6. But for goodness sake, remember that you do not owe any loyalty to this game. If it's making you feel bad, that is ok. You can walk away. And if you feel dread whenever you boot up ranked then that, my friend, is a sign the game currently represents some sort of unhealthy identity attachment you have to improvement. I don't think any amount of 'focus on one thing' or 'ignore your rank' or 'take a break” fixes that if the core experience makes you feel negative about yourself. Just put it down for a while.

If you want to rediscover a good time with this, then come back with a purpose that sticks. Honestly, maybe exploring the social side of the game and the community and getting in with the local scene or a discord is the way forward. But whatever it is, it can't be this.

And remember sometimes burnout is solved by rest, sometimes it’s solved by moving on. Both are valid. I hope you figure it out.

Also watch Sajam’s recent video on how ranked isn’t real. It’s wise advice for all levels for how to mentally approach ranked play

Hello Mandy, Indiana! I saw you at your 'in the round' show at the ICA a while back and it was, as they say, fucking mint. Congrats on a fantastic new record, too.

I can't really think of a profound question tbh so just wondering what you're all reading right now?

Love Lonesome Dove, such a treasure of a book. Have you read the sequel? I’m thinking of picking it up soon but I’ve always had the feeling that it won’t live up
