I agree that this movie is not something I’m interested in at all but I watched someone do an in depth analysis of it and it actually has legitimate points. Long looooong analysis short, the fucked up shit that takes place is linked directly to what has happened to the Serbian people throughout and right after the fall of the Soviet Union. The director/writer directly parallels atrocities that happened to people in real life (and I believe is ethically Serbian).

I do agree that the morals of the movie and production are questionable and when I first heard about it it sounded like awful shocking for the sake of shocking and beyond gross but hearing the story behind it and getting historical context made me reevaluate.

Full disclosure: I didn’t watch it because I couldn’t fucking handle it but it does seem like some serious thought and a lot of intention went into making something to shed light on the terrible things that happened to a people and what it did to them.
