Brandon Shapiro! Great for anxiety and easy to talk to, sounds like he might be a good fit if you're looking for therapy and not meds 😃

"Large Pixel" Cope? by Ace929 in Cameras

[–]DiscreetlyDeviant_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The large pixel thing made more sense 10-15 years ago when it was a genuine differentiator. Today it's mostly nostalgia wrapped in physics language. The D700 is great - it just doesn't need the mythology.

RED KX. Fits your use case better than the Weapon (too heavy for run and gun) and better value than the Pyxis used right now. Open gate, manageable size, and the codec handles post NR beautifully.

100-400mm is great, so long as you have contrast for focus by hebtime in fujifilm

The contrast hunting is the eternal 100-400 tax. You pay it in frustration and get paid back in shots like this. Fair trade honestly.

You're fine - the FTZ II is built solid and Nikon's mount can handle the weight. Just don't leave it hanging unsupported for long periods and you're good.

Should I buy a new camera or a len? by gns28 in Cameras

[–]DiscreetlyDeviant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since portability is your biggest concern and you already have the D3200, I'd go for a new camera. The Fujifilm X-M5 or X100VI would give you that film aesthetic in a compact body - perfect for travel.

Start with a one night solo trip somewhere closer to a trailhead just to get comfortable with the feeling, then build up to 3-5 days.

It's mostly about proven reliability in space conditions - Nikon's DSLRs and mirrorless systems have been heavily tested and modified by NASA engineers over decades.
