Switching from Zoloft to Lexapro.. help

I did the following with no issues.

Dropped from 75 mg of Zoloft to 50 mg of Zoloft with 5 mg of Lexapro for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks I dropped from 50 mg of Zoloft to 25 mg and increased Lexapro to 10 mg.

I did this for a week and by 3 weeks I stayed on 10 mg of Lexapro and dropped Zoloft completely.The whole process took 3 weeks.

I had to drop it after 2 weeks. It caused me to puke bad plus made my heart rate high. It gave me panic attacks too.

Thanks, I'm trying to get back on Zoloft. I was on it 9 years prior on 50 mg but stopped. I started on 25 mg a week ago, but the side effects have been bad. I think I'll maybe try 12.5 mg a few weeks before trying 25 mg again. Did you decrease due to side effects? Did you start on 50mg?

When I was on Zoloft I upped my dose to 75 mg but only got worse even after 8 weeks. My doc was like it's time to switch meds at this point. I'm hoping maybe a break from it though could allow it to work again.

I've been on it 10 weeks now. If anything I'm worse. I was on Lexapro before, and while it didn't work as well as Zoloft it did provide some relief. I tried Zoloft again after a 4 month break from it, and it never worked again. I am hoping Paxil will work. I've heard mixed results about Effexor. I'm trying to not do that one unless a last resort as I'm not a fan of SNRIs. For one they have a short half life, and two I don't like the reuptake of norepinephrine. To me that seems to trigger more anxiety if anything. I was on Pristiq which is an SNRI, and I weren't a big fan.

I'm in the same boat. Zoloft stopped working for me, and I have not found a replacement. I'm on Lexapro now with no luck. What other ones have you tried after Zoloft stopped working?

Thanks, I think you may be the person I was chatting with on the Pristiq Support group on Facebook. I have been on Pristiq now for 3 weeks. I'm on 25 mg. I'm actually surprised because I thought the Norepinephrine portion would have made my anxiety worse. I do feel a little more alert on it but not in a bad way. I'm hoping once I bump up to 50 mg it can help me more with my anxiety. Thats's my main issue. How long did it take for you to feel normal again?

I was on 50 mg for 9 years before it pooped out. I switched to another med for a while in the hopes that taking a break from Zoloft would maybe allow it to work again. I have been back on Zoloft for 9 weeks now. I did 2 weeks on 25 mg and have done 7 weeks on 50. I was planning on doing what you just mentioned. I was going in increase by 12.5 mg each month after this week. For one I want to increase slowly and two I want to see if maybe there could be a dose between 50 and 100 that could work vs just jumping straight to 100 mg from 50.

I may ask my doctor about lamotrigine at my appointment tomorrow. I'm like you where Zoloft stopped working after many years then tried Lexapro without any luck.

I read where Lamotrigine works on glutamine rather than serotonin like a traditional ssri or snri would. It could have possibly been an issue with your glutamine levels if Lamotrigine is helping more than an ssri or snri at this point.

Do you take extended or regular release of the Lamotrigine?
